Dún Laoghaire (pronounced Dun-leery) ferry terminal is where one can catch the Sealink ferries or Stena High Speed ferries to Holyhead.
I would prefer to get a ferry from here then Dublin Port as there is more to do in Dún Laoghaire whilst one is waiting for the ferry. the Terminal itself is right beside the DART station so getting to Dún Laoghaire or Dublin City Centre by public transport could not be easier!
For pedestrians taking the ferry:There is a lovely modern waiting area with coffee shop and small souvenir shop selling some Stena souvenirs. You can also buy ferry tickets at the terminal! It's a joy sitting outside watching the comings and goings around the harbour on a fine day.
I meet relations of mine here who use this port regularly whilst travelling to and from the UK and love this historic ferry terminal.
Dun Loaghaire is a marvellous place to visit when you just want to see another side to Dublin. The harbour is an attraction in itself with a good selection of restaurants nearby and good walks to be taken. This area is home too to Maeve Binchey and when you visit it you get a deeper feel for many of her books.
