This place is fantastic, and you can easily spend a day here exploring the different garden centres. I even take the kids here as they also have pets for sale.
The garden centres here are cheaper than those where I live and they have far more choice. they are also well worth visiting at Christmas, as the displays are wonderful and they have lots of decorations to choose from.
If you come down the road from the Enfield end, the very last garden centre on your left has a great cafe. On Sundays, they do hot roast beef rolls with horseradish that are to die for.
So, I only have room for about two plants in my tiny garden. Nonetheless I still adore exploring Crews Hill. It's probably the largest collection of nurseries and garden centres in the country. It feeds my dreams of what I would do if I owned an acre or two.
There's so much on offer from many of the specialist centres - whether your need is for a small shrub for a window box or your whole garden re-designed.
You would need more than a day to visit all that Crews Hill has to offer. As well as nurseries, there are aquatic centres selling tropical fish and swimming pool and spa specialists.
As with many gardens centres, they don't just sell flowers there are tons of items for the home: candles, ornaments, bric a brac etc.
It really is a browsers delight and beware of impulse buying.
I never thought I'd have need of a carved wooden elephant or a collection of painted pine cones, but those have been two of my recent purchases here. One day, I'll find a place to put them.
Crew's Hill is one of the best garden centre locations I have found The variety is astounding there is a garden centre to suite everyones tastes .At christmas time it is postively brimming with goodies in all the centre's .My family love it.We moved away a couple of years ago and haven't found anything to match it for variety ,price and that fact that there are a good range of wellknown garden centres in one location .We make a point of visiting at least 3-4 times a year for all our gardening needs.Wish there were more like around the country.Have recommended it to so many people it is an awesome place to visit.
In the middle of nowhere roughly 1 hour North of London a little road in the countryside suddently turns into gardening world Crews Hill isn't quite Beverley Hills but it certainly covers everything you may need to create, decorate or improve a garden (or terrasse in our case) with plants. It is worth going there and park so that you can wander around the various stores. There are many of them and they are not all on the main street. I stumbled upon the largest one hidden behind an unassuming outdoor furniture store. Worth looking at the universe of what's available as it is very wide in terms of plants, less so in terms of flowers. I was not able to compare many prices but I wasnt struck but prices being very affordable. I just spotted bamboo trees much cheaper on web site called crocos.co.uk for instance so you may need to be wary of prices. The good thing for a big order is that these places will deliver to your door (or you garden). Pots are ok but if you are looking for more contemporary or minimalists styles this isn't the place to go. And a great place for bbq shopping, we found all the missing accessories we needed (plus many we didn't need). There are also many stores full of really tacky decorative items for your gardens from fake frogs to various statues or oenaments best avoided. After a couple of hours there we are almost ready ready for a summer in the terrasse just need the sun to turn up now.
I have been going to crews hill for years and years. Its absolutely brilliant. There is so much choice for the keen gardener you are spoilt. And christmas time is just magical. The display that they put on for christmas is wonderful you want to be a child again. I have never seen anything quite like it anywhere, it would beat Harrods. I took my first grandchild there to show her father christmas and to ride the christmas train. We all had a wonderful time. They go that extra mile the staff at crews hill and I think that is why people keep coming back. And not just for christmas also Halloween, Guy Fawkes. Keep up the great work that you are all doing. And the cafe near the station does great soup, especially enjoyable on a cold day. Love love love and oh love it. Jean.
