The new Chorrley Interchange is modern, light , and enclosed.
Seating what I would call metal net type,
so beware in the winter it's cold sitting on them for long periods with the cold nipping through the holes, and the metal.
Cooler for the summer
Not many seats per stand so you can do a bit of standing as you wait.
Although it's newish and modern, buses mostley still tend to leave just a little bit late.
Enclosed passenger waiting area
Fifteen bus stands
Electronic bus and rail departure information Boards
giving bus and train times.
CCTV coverage linked to the local police station
Security personnel or customer service staff on the bus station until the last departure of the day
Shop-mobility satellite office
Toilet and baby changing facilities
Travel and tourist information
Staff can be very good if approched , But you do have to approch them, they arnt mind readers. and they will help where they can.
During a snowy period a bus turned up late and shot out without picking up.
Within 5 minutes they had a double decker bus and driver just to take me to my destination.
I can't fault that.
But I don't expect that would happen everytime a bus dosent turn up..
Would be nice to have a small cafe inside it even just for tea, coffee and snack. There are a couple of vending machines
Got to give them a five star, all in all it's a well run bus staion.
Built in 2003, this replaced the old bus station on Union street. It cost over 3 million pounds to build and has made easy access for commuters who use rail services as the interchange, is just opposite the train station. It also provides easy access to Market Walk and the Chorley Markets.
It has full electronic displays of bus timetables and stands. It also benefits from cctv coverage.
The downside is when you are commuting from the train station there is a very steep angled path and could cause injury. The steps opposite Woolworths are quite steep and disabled users have to negotiate a ramp which leads to the Taxi rank.
As with a lot of bus stations youths hang around nearby, but they never seem to be a problem.
It is comfortable to use and is warm and airy. There are good toilet facilities available and the staff are friendly and helpful to customers who struggle.
i find the bus interchange really easy to navigate.
it modern clean and well maintained. there are plenty of seats, toilets (including disabled and baby change), a newsagents, travel shop and snack machines.
There is a large choice of busses going to preston, leyland, wigan, bolton and manchester, as well as town circulars and local busses.
the interchage warm and inviting and offers bus and train departure screens as well as maps and service information. it is situated accross the road from the train station and a minutes walk from the shops
