A popular great day out which ever race you choose. It attracts many of the footballers from the local areas such as Manchester and Liverpool. Michael Owen is a regular fixture. They hosts a few Ladies Day's and Evenings which are rather popular. Its nice to see many women who have made an effort to dress in fancy outfits and hats regardless of the weather.
There are a number of excellent bars and restaurants near the Race course. A number of visitors who come to the races take the opportunity to have a mini-break and enjoy the historic city of Chester.
Agree with all the other reviewers - brilliant day out getting drunk and betting on horses that have no chance of winning. Only whinnying. Geddit?
I like the fact that you can get really close to the horses as they come in. Racehorses are a lot smaller than I thought they would be.
Great day out.
What can be more fun than dressing up and going racing its a lovely circular course and is fun for all the Roman days (family days) are even more fun lots of people take picnic's and really make a day of it. A must.
Last time I went was a corporate event and we were in a marque in the centre of the course. It was a really special day with lovely weather which helps, greated with a glass of pimms followed by a delicious 3 course meal with wine cheese and port all included. If you ever get invited to one of these events bite their hand off, you will have a fantastic day.
Fabulous day out I always love going to Chester race course. The county stand is amazing a happy time is had by all.
As with other reviewers have been here many times for the summer meet(being a degenerate gambler, however don't mail me for tips i once backed the Liberal Democrats to win the general election.).If your not into racing ,still a great place to put on your glad rags and have a drink and a bite to eat in the sun.Try it even for those who don't gamble the races is a great day out with friends.
A great and popular day out in Chester. It's a lovely race-course and you can always tell when the races are on as the public transport system almost buckles under the pressure of many visitors into the city. They have boxes for those who have the money or the inclination for them, a certain Newcastle forward owns one of them and can be seen from time to time to watch his own horses. It's not the cheapest day out, but it's a fab idea to kick off a hen or stag weekend and gives you the excuse to dress up and have a great time. The carpark is manic though so I would avoid driving there, even to the car parks nearby and walk from the city centre instead as it's not far.
Worth a go if you like the gee gees. A really good day out. If you want to live the high life though, don't go for the Dee stand - though the atmosphere is probably just as good, it's not the nicest. I went to the Dee stand as they were the only tickets left when I booked but still had a great time (spent a bomb and didn't win a penny!)
This is quite a small race course, however this is the beauty of it. Race days are busy and the atmosphere is great. Race days accomodate for all, if you dont like dressing up then you will be at home in your smart caual wear and if you like glaming up then you can really go for it and still feel at home. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the surrounding area so you can really make a day of it.
