Woohoo! And, it's a first review for/from the US. Tre' super!
My dear friend Noe and I spent the day carousing around Lyon, and the Primatiale Saint Jean is literally less than 2 blocks from her door step.
Needless to say, I was in awe of this gorgeous work of art.
Ancient architecture always blows my mind when I look at all the work that went into the detail of sculpture, glass work, masonry.
http://www.yelp.fr/biz_p… It's amazing the orchestration of so many artist, craftsmen and laborers that it took to build such a beautiful structure.

Beautiful building, but it is the astronomical clock that really captured my attention. I wish I could have seen it ring and seen all the figures move, but we did not plan our visit in time to see that show.
C'est la vie! The clock is still a marvelous work of art and it is incredible to think that has been keeping time correctly for hundreds of years -- not just that, but also predicting lunar cycles and heaven knows how many other types of measurements!

It's nice to visit a beautiful cathedral without all the tourists snapping pictures and making a ton of noise. Don't miss the astronomical clock which rings at 12pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.
