Another carvery where you can enjoy the great British Roast. Catch the offer and you get 2 for £10, probably £11 now - excellent value. Served at lunchtime and in the evening, as well as all day Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Additionally there is an A la Carte, with traditional family favourites, cooked fresh to order. There are also lighter options from the bar menu, which contains a broad selection of baguettes and jacket potatoes.
The children can be amused for a while in the indoor and outdoor play areas.
Went here recently and thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch carvery. We had to wait for a table but then we were a party of 26 so not surprising and you can't book for that number on a Sunday. However, it was worth the wait. The vegetables were nicely cooked, good choice of meats or you could also have a portion of steak pie which was on special that day, and lots of trimmings. The carvery is also open during the week and they have special offers on so it is cheaper then.
In addition there is a great children's indoor and outdoor play area. You don't have to eat here to use this. A small charge per child is made and they can have a couple of hours here to burn off some energy. There is plenty of seating for adults and a bar where you can order refreshments. I would recommend this place as great for families.
Situated between Bowthorpe and New Costessey about three miles from Norwich City Centre. the Castle is aimed at families with plenty of kids choices on the menu and a large play area both inside and out. A good variety of food caters for all tastes. I would reccomend visiting here for the Roast dinners, which is a help yourself buffet service with three choices of Meat and a vegetarian option plus a good selection of vegetables so you can really go to town! prices for food are resonable especially if you catch the 2 dinners for a tenner offer. The drinks prices however are very expensive..So drink slowly!
This is on the site of the old 'Clock Tower' pub/restaurant, near the large roundabout likning Bowthorpe with Dereham Road.
It is a marked improvement on the old place in many way.
The food is exceptional - there is the carvery, as per the name, which has an excellent choice of meats and veggies - up to 10 or 12 different veggies. If you buy a carvery, you get a free kids 9in highchair) meal. And at certain times and days 2 people can eat for £10 - total, not each.
There is a great menu besides this, which includes, fish, meat, vegetarian, pasta, salads, sandwiches and so on.
Thekids menu is pretty basic, and I always go for the carvery option as its healthier (nuggets, sausages etc etc), but its great value either way. There is also the 'fun fort'which is £2 per hour (I think!) or free for the under 2's. There is an inside and outside play area - inside there are 2, one for older kids and a soft play for toddlers. There are tables in the area so parents can eat with their kids (they have to remain at all times).
castle carvery is a cheap but very good friendly place to go to,and welcome young children so great for all the family.
On the Bowthorpe roundabout, close to a bowling centre if you want to combine visits! A good value carvery with childrens soft play area. Children can play while you take your time over your traditional Sunday roast for a small additional fee! Good no- fuss traditional food, childrens menu, kids parties catered for!
Four of the roys of bothorpe crew just sat down and had a delicious meal, they really know how to cook a steak! Service is really great
