    You should visit Carpisa if:

    1) You're a woman
        1a) You're a man

    and

    2) You love bags.

    Seriously, this place is amazing.  When I first encountered it, I was strolling down Oxford Street and side-eyed the window display.  I saw fashion-forward bags and didn't think much of it.

    'Carpisa?' I thought, 'That must be a designer I've never heard of...'

    I didn't think much of it, that is, until I saw one of the price tags in the window.  

    '£19.90? For reals??'

    My previous engagements were postponed as I nipped inside the store to investigate.  I encountered rows upon rows of up-to-date bags, purses and accessories.  How are the bags so cheap?  They're generally made with man-made materials.  But they LOOK so real.  And they LOOK so expensive.  

    And all the bargain fashionistas rejoice!

    It's a good thing I always have room in my heart (and closet) for another handbag.  Husband-shaming, be damned!

    PS, Carpisa's little turtle logo is totally adorbs.

    I discovered this Italian brand while in Florence back in 2009. They sell mostly bags but also luggage and have two stores in London. Price and quality of the Carpisa bags is good and it is nice to have something different next to Topshop, H&M and Primark.

    In October last year I bought a bag for GBP 35.90. After two zippers broke and I could literally not close the bag any more, I wanted to take it back and exchange it. This was less than 6 months after purchase. On the receipt it says they only offer 28 days exchange. It took me several emails with their Italian customer service to be allowed to change the bag for one at the same price.

    Dear manager of this shop: The European Union has passed a directive which is also applicable in the United Kingdom. Under this, faulty items must be exchanged within a two-year period. Within the first six months it is the shop's responsibility to prove something is wrong done by the customer. You may like to refer to 1999/44/EC.

    I would strongly advise you to treat your customers not like children or stupid people. Especially when they study European politics. This failure of service only deserves one star. And that is because the bags are nice. The customer service is not.

    I absolutely adore this shop. Even if I'm in a mad rush I'll slow down for its windows and maybe peek in for just a little minute.

    They have gorgeous little bags, in very very logical prices, along with a selection of leather bags in the back.

    I'd strongly recommend you look out for their jewelry boxes, as they are incredibly well designed and useful. Every few months they come up with a new outside design, so keep going back if you don't like the one they have right now. My favourite one is the large flat one with the tons of little compartments.
