The Arts theatre is one of Cambridge's jewels, not only does it draw in large audiences but also has done some very good plays / shows. I recently saw Absurd Person Singular there and it was a very entertaining evening, the performance was broken into three parts so there was time for a drink at both intervals from the well stocked bar, bit on the pricey side though, although I appreciate they need to get as much revenue as they can because I believe it's only about 30% of the ticket price the theatre keeps and also hence the booking fee on all tickets that's there's to keep.
Probably the best place in Cambridge for a traditional pantomine with audience participation gags and more than a few laughs. Great entertainment in a lovely surrounding. The arts Theatre is a great venue in a easy to access place (parking in grand arcade). Good box office service. Has some very big name productions throughout the year
The theatre is comfortable with an excellent programme and big names, but I object to the booking fee being added to every ticket price regardless of how payment is made. If you can get to the theatre by public transport it is easier (and much cheaper) than parking, but there are carparks in the vicinity.
The theatre is comfortable and has excellent facilities. The staff are really friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Parking is a bit of a pain, the nearest place is the Grand Arcade carpark, which can cost an absolute fortune during the day but isn't too bad in the evening.
