I've been to this Cafe Rouge many times. It's located conveniently above Victoria Station and is one of the better options in the food court there. Always nice service and tasty fare (if a bit overpriced - but the whole chain is a bit overpriced).
The food and service were wonderful but the environment and the overall value were a little lacking. Lots of locations worth exploring.
There's not much choice in the Victoria area if you fancy a change from Italian or Wagamama. This branch of Cafe Rouge is actually located in the "food arena" of the shopping centre above Victoria Railway station. (It's the only place worth considering there).
The surroundings are therefore rather unprepossessing, but in return you get the reliable, if rather unimaginative, fare that is Cafe Rouge, as well as competent service. Their fixed menu lunches are actually good value too - it's quite possible to have lunch and coffee for around £10.
You could do a lot worse, though, and it's worth knowing about in an emergency (when the train service collapses, for example).
While shopping at Victoria with a friend in Victoria , We decided as it was getting late that it would be nice to have some dinner.. So we wandered over to Victoria Station Plaza where there are quite a few places to eat and that is where we discovered Cafe Rouge and are we glad we did..
It was not too busy and they had a special on where two people can have 2 starters , 2 main meals and a bottle of wine for 30 pounds.. The Food was fantastic , We both had Pate to start followed by Le Grande Steak which on its own is fifteen pounds and it was delightful.. The bottle of house red was lovely also, our waitress was very friendly - so all in all if you want great Food, Great Service and excpetional Value , This is the Place to be.
I went here several years ago. Loved it. I got the Entrecôte Steak with white peppercorn sauce. Even though it was so long ago, it stands out in my mind as the only place in England I visited that had excellent food. I also recall that it was very family friendly (despite being a French restaurant which has a sort of snob appeal), and the waiter was fantastic. So nice, in fact, that we invited him to look us up if he ever came to the USA. Wonderful dinner experience. Go figure--it would be French cuisine... English cuisine is non-existant.
I love cafe rouge! it always has a superb range of food and the quality is always excellent. staff are very friendly and the ambience is so relaxing that you (almost) forget you are in the middle of London. the continental breakfasts they do are really tasty and fill you up for most of the day!
