Cafe CREATE is located in Leeds Parish Church and is one of two cafes based in Leeds within the CREATE group. The charity describes itself as a social enterprise, its aim is to develop training and employment opportunities for people who have been homeless, marginalised or vulnerable.

Once through the arched door to the main church, Cafe CREATE can be found to the right, through a secondary heavy, wooden door. Simple tables and chairs fill the little room, which is lit by natural light streaming through the stained glass window. The food they serve is humble but wholesome. Sandwiches, jacket potatoes, soup and pies are sold here, alongside a selection of cakes and tray bakes. I opted for some carrot soup, which was vibrant in colour and taste. Although it had snubbed its usual partnership with coriander, the soup did not lack flavour and was served alongside doorstep sized wedges of fresh granary bread.

The cafe also runs an outside catering business, providing food for formal dinners, canapes and buffet selections. With such a worthy cause to support, in exchange for tasty fare in celestial surroundings, Cafe CREATE is well worth a visit.

I have a small hankering when I walk passed churches with café's, there is just something so calming about being in a café that resides in a church, perhaps it is to do with the pious quietness with which most people enter them. It is also just an excuse to go into a church which is something I haven't done much of apart from on school arranged trips.

Comfortable, clean and calm. A lovely place to grab something to drink and eat over lunch time.
