I knew that today was going to be a long day (yes, I am writing this review during the 10 minutes free time that I found this late afternoon). I was in my office since before 9:00 AM and will be here until around 6:00 PM. So around mid-afternoon, I took a break and took some papers I needed to read, while trying to find a new cafe. I found the Sarotti Höfe, named after the chocolatier Sarotti.
True to the name, they offer plenty of chocolate-related drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The temperature was a little chilly, so I asked for a grog and a slice of the sachertorte. That set me back 6,80 EUR. And yes, I enjoyed it, in many ways.
The grog was potent. The sachertorte was chocolatey. And I was light-headed after consuming these two items and walking back to my office.
I give this place 4 stars. Perhaps it's because I like the interior: it has charm and character, and gives off an old-world feel, at the same time making people of all walks of life welcome (they have a rainbow sticker at the door, among other things). I also like the plentiful choices of cakes. What I don't like is the lack of accessible electric plugs. So this isn't a place I would like to set up a laptop and work in, this is more a place where one would feel comfortable taking a little break from the hustle and bustle of life and sip a drink, potent or non-potent.
Nothing super fantastic. I came on a quiet night. Even though it's a cafe, I felt out of place doing work here. The espresso was good but the staff wasn't too friendly. I can't see this being a top cafe for anyone.
6.90 euro Brunch was really good Brunch with so many varieties. I highly recommend it!
Take the hot chocolate. as the name of Sarotti, its really good!
Nothing really amazing here....Maybe the tasty cakes....The service is below average, and the food quality is standard. Come here, only if everyone else in the area has closed or is out of bread or something.
a real find for all those who, like me, have always dreamt of living in a chocolate factory. it offers a perfect combination of German efficiency and non-conformism in one of the cool parts of town. my flight was late on my first visit and I was really touched that the guy at the bar was doing overtime just to let me in. the rooms was beautiful, if perhaps a bit over-renovated (especially the bathroom). still, I switched on the TV and Marlene Dietrich started singing - the best Berlin feeling. I found out the next day that I missed the traditional May Day riots
