We were staying in the 4th arr. during our recent visit. We would stroll by several times a day and finally decided to stop. Food & service were both good, Prices were fair. Steaks were cooked to order and the wine included in the formules was decent. People watching was fun and we never felt rushed.
I would not hesitate in returning.
Good cafe in Bastille with great outdoor seating for people watching and lounging in general.
Located on a very lively corner in Bastille, Cafe des Phares has reasonable prices.
My girlfriend and I grabbed lunch here my last morning in Paris because it was close to our hotel. It's got a view of the Place de la Bastille and that's the best thing that I have to say about it. The service was horrible and the food wasn't much better. We were sitting in front so the waiter never passed in front of us and eventually I had to chase him down to pay the bill so we could catch our train.
Open on Mondays and they have a happy hour. Hot food, 5 Euro beers, most of them on tap except for Carlsburg and Live Music. they also have a philosophy debate on Wednesday night. If want a hot meal and beer then this is the best place at the Bastille.
A good solid lunch option right near the Bastille metro and Sunday/Thursday Batille marche. We had onion soup, croque madam, a ham sandwich, and two cappuccinos. All told, it ran about €32. The food was great, except the onion soup which was only okay (a bit too bland). Would not hesitate to stop back by if we were in the area.
