Came here with a few mates for the early bird menu (two courses €19.95). The organiser of the meal was late (very rude as we had to make it to a gig in Vicar St) so the rest of us got cocktails to start. The cocktails were pretty good, but not quite worth the €12 price tag.
For starters I got the kidneys, they were very tasty and presentation was top notch. For mains I opted for the vegetarian option, a Portebello Mushroom Wellington. The pastry was crispy and the filling, with spinach, cashew nuts and smoked Gubbeen cheese, was beautiful. I washed it all down with a pint of Metalman. Including service charge, my meal can to €40.
My one complaint would be the service which was a little slow throughout the meal, when we arrived it took them nearly 15min to ask if we wanted a drink.
Had dinner with mates here before a gig at Vicar Street and availed of their early bird menu which was very good value. There was a good selection of drinks too - we ordered cocktails, craft beer and wine (and regretted the mixture next morning...) but they were all great quality. Metalman and Galway Hooker for those new to craft beer ;)
Food was hearty and delicious, service friendly enough although it took a bit longer than I would have liked between starters and mains. Steaks and burgers got the most compliments from my mates so order anything that has beef in it!
Was craving a nice steak meal and went to my handy Yelp App and after some looking around I went with Bull & Castle, check out how to get there and made our way, in fact walked right past it while searching for it haha.
It was around 4pm and after walking in noticed that the pub part is in fact upstairs and what I was looking for was F X Buckley Steakhouse, which is all one and the same, so this review isn't about the pub but more about the steak house. Our server, who wasn't extremely friendly, but not really rude told us when we asked for a table that we need to be done with our meal in 2 hours and she sat us at table in front by the hostesses table, like the side bar area which was ok with us, I didn't care, I wanted steak.
After looking the menu over I went with a rib eye steak that was aged for 32 days and for my sides I had mashed potatoes with onions and maple glazed carrots & parsnips, it came with either salad or soup of the day, which was cream of mushroom soup and I'm really not much of a soup person but I was chilled to the bone and soup sounded perfect.
The soup was delicious even ate every bite. The Rib Eye was cooked medium rare and it came with garlic butter, but the steak itself was melt in your mouth good, so tender and buttery loved it! The mashed potatoes were good, just not favorite not that it was good, because it was, it's just the maple glazed carrots & parsnips were fabulous, never had parsnips before so I was unsure when I ordered it but boy was I blown away with the flavors of this side, it went perfect with the steak.
We were in and out before our 2 hour time limit, I did enjoy the food, and the service was cold, not very friendly. But if in area looking for a good steak, this might be your place.
Really great location, nice decor inside and really helpful and friendly staff. Loads of whiskies and beers (craft beer place) - so of course that means expensive. Pint typically 5€ (yes that includes guinness). but mon to weds they have a 4.5€ pint selected. They also give free chicken wings and chips if you have a large group - but that's probably cause the beer is so expensive. They do also do whisky tastings (not sure the size of the taster), but three for 9.60€ and beer tasting, 4 craft beers for 8€.they have a smoking area, but isn't section off and you are just on the street basically with no cover. Overall its an ok pub.
would only really go back here if someone else was paying! ;)
Great aged steaks! We called and got a reservation and they sat us a little early. Huge steaks. They're served with special sauces, which are divine! Maybe I'm use to southern hospitality, but the servers could have been a little more attentive (maybe cause we were Americans) but that was ok since the beef was so great. Good wine list!
Dropped in with friends while walking around Dublin... Food was pretty good. Service was spotty. Three of us had the the two course 20 euro early bird special. We all chose the ribeye (5 euro extra) and all enjoyed their steak. The Caesar Salad was well liked as well as the side salads. The Honey Comb ice cream was delicious and the chocolate cake (don't recall what it was called but it looked and tasted like a lava cake) was also very good. Overall we enjoyed our experience. The waiter did not want to split our check, but we were taken care of at the bar.
Four stars for the Bull & Castle as a venue for drinks at the upstairs bar which has a great selection of tasty craft beers and nice long wooden tables which you can squeeze around 10 people at.
They have a full selection of spirits too. They do a G&T for €5.60 which is competitive for a Dublin bar - it's Gordon's, they have Hendricks etc. also but that's a bit pricier so it's nice to have options.
I've eaten downstairs here before and it's really just not my kind of fare, the rating is for the bar experience!
Upon the recommedation of a few Dubliners, I came starving and craving red meat and beer. The perfect place to satisfy this particular craving. The upstairs beer hall is such a great and cavernous space. Lots of long tables, and cozy corners to watch a game and sip one of the plentiful beer offerings. The bartenders allowed me to sample a few drafts until I found a gorgeous and delicious (non Guinness!) stout. The Medallion of Fillet Beef over spring onion mashed... sorry, had to wipe off my chin as I drooled, was absolutely delicious. The beef was tender, perfectly rare and out of this world and the au jus was an amazing compliment. It was, hands down, the best meal I had in Dublin.
I will make it a point to return on my next trip!
We wanted to take my sister to a traditional Irish restaurant and came in on a cold night with no reservations and though we had to wait an hour and a half for dinner, it was soo worth it! We started at the bar for some drinks and ordered an appetizer. Champagne and beers were on the menu for us though the bartender was not pleased with our choice of champagne being a pub but whatever!!
We were then sat down and ordered chauterbriend for two (though it was three of us) but wow the food was more than enough. We did order extra veggies -- sautéed mushrooms which were delicious. The steak was very tasty and all the sides were great. We paired that with some red wine, which was perfect. We left stuffed and happy - next time I am in Dublin will absolutely go there again
Great selection of craft beers and very knowledgeable and helpful bar staff. Great starter pub!
Now, if you are in need of an American-style sports bar, then you've come to the right place. This bar/restaurant certainly has the right look and feel of it. Once you find this place, you'll notice a decent sized patio area on the right. Tall and short tables, and tall and short stools. You have to go up the stairs to get to the bar and dining area.
Up there, you find all the televisions showing the latest match. You won't have any viewing issues, as the the boxes are hung up high. The tables are pretty large, as is the bar. The bar serves up plenty of good local Irish crafted beers, like the Golden Axe, Galway Hooker, and my favorite the MetalMan for only €4.
As for the food and service, I've yet to try because the server told me, "It'll be about a 45 minute wait" for food. It didn't seem too busy, but oh well, maybe next time! Luckily there's a Leo Burdock's nearby (check out my review for that). I bought some chips and chilled at the patio. 45 minutes HA! Good times!
Overall, this is a great place for a pint!
We came hear hungry after the Gluiness tour. This place was great, our best food so far. The seafood chowder was better than anything we've had in the US, packed with fish and seafood. Broth wasn't too creamy, and the side of brown bread was a perfect match. We also had the fish and chips and black pudding salad. Ask for your chips well done. Definitely go here. The lunch pairing is a great value.
Not the typical pub...I found the Bull & Castle rather expensive..however. the food was VERY good and worth the money.
I opted for the Goats Cheese salad which was very tasty and the waiter received some goodie points when he closed the front door, anticipating my needs when he saw that I totally got chilly.

As the name suggests it's (almost) a hall. Big yes. But thanks to all the wood and usually dimmed light you don't feel like it's a hall.
A decent choice of craft beer and as it belongs to FXB you definitely won't be disappointed by their steaks and burger.
I recently had first time their Cashel Blue Burger and it was devine.
Had a great time her with friends the other night we got free platers of food and some free beer because we booked a table which was great the people here are a great crowd the bar staff really know what there talking about when it comes to there selection of alcohol. really fun and cool place to go.
Cool place to go and drink beer. This place is divided into a restaurant and a beer hall (and there are two separate entrances). I went only to the beer hall (upstairs.)
The place is pretty big with large tables similar but not exactly setup like a German beer hall. The beer selection is not bad but I feel like having a few more options on tap would have been nice.

On the last night of my guests being in town, I wanted to impress them with a nice meal at a place that I would consider a real "Dublin" restaurant. I was able to call and get a reservation quite last minute with no problems at all. The ambiance was great and my guests were very impressed with the interior and the unique feel within the restaurant. I wish I could say the same for the food. For starters, two of us had Caesar Salads, one had the Black Pudding Croquettes and the other had the wings. The Croquettes were cooked perfectly, the salads were drenched in dressing and the chicken wings seemed almost slimy. For mains, we had 3 burgers and one order of Hake at the table. All of the burgers were cooked correctly but the food came out cold. The Hake was horribly overcooked and if anyone has ever had an overcooked white fish, there is nothing worse than trying to swallow every bite that is sticking in your mouth and taking about 100 bites to chew. After partially failed starters and disappointing mains, I couldn't even think about taking a chance on dessert.
Totally disappointing meal to send my guests off with and I was pretty embarrassed as I had talked this place up. With a bill over €120 for 4 guests, with starters, mains and only two people having one drink each, I probably won't venture back as that was quite an expensive and disappointing meal.
Late lunch stop our first day in Dublin. The atmosphere is nice and service was friendly. Not much to report on the food front. We had a couple pints and split the fish and chips. The dish I wanted was "out" and this is always disappointing. The best part was we got to sit in the window and people watch. A little more on the expensive side of the meals we ate while visiting Dublin.
Really really like this place. Not only for a good night out but also for their food.
Who can go wrong with a delicious, mouthwatering, juicy FXB steak?
The menu is great, offering a fantastic early bird menu for under 20 EUR and an all night 3 course menu for under 24 EUR.
My favorites are the pate and the steak. Yeah a girl can never go wrong with pate, served with chutney and crunchy toasted bread =-)
The steaks are incredible too and it is well noticed that FXB has their own butcher.
Oh and did I mention the deserts? For all those chocolate fans - if you want to treat yourself order a brownie - oh you wont be disappointed. This tiny little piece of haven condenses at least 2 bars of chocolate in a small inconspicuous square. Oh just the thought of it makes me shiver and my mouth starts watering.....
On the side you can order a delicious cocktail or pick from a huge variety of beers. If you ask me (well I would have told you anyways, but a girl tries to be nice once in a while ;) ) you should order Galway Hooker or Buckley's Golden Ale. 2 thumps up for Irish Ales ;)

Ok, the perennial question any expat gets when being asked about places to eat in Dublin is "Where do I get good Fish & Chips". So you have to balance out things like how heavy the batter-to-fish ratio is, how tasty the food is before and after the addition of malt vinegar, and what the texture of the chips is-are they steak cut? rinky dink?
So the Bull and Castle has now become the spot that I recommend out-of-towners grab their deep fried fish and potato fingers. I was there to attend the Beer Fest put on by Deveney's of Dundrum, and Herself and I realized that we would need more real food if we were going to keep drinking real beer (which, by the way, the Bull and Castle has a great selection of, even without a festival). So we headed into the pub itself for resupply.
Recommendation: order from the 2-course, prix-fixe menu. You have a choice of a starter and main or main and dessert or...you get the picture. We shared a starter, had our own main, and then split a dessert and the bill came to just under 35 Euro.
Bottom line: f you've got friends staying in the touristy areas, gettem here before you hit Temple Bar.
While the wait is long, the food and service are worth the wait! Between the three of us, we split the Chateaubriand for Two and had more than enough for all of us. Everything was so tasty...and the service and ambiance was timely and comfortable. Highly recommend.
I came here just before Christmas with Cristin L (we were supposed to meet other Yelpers for Christmas drinks but we were late and everyone had left or maybe they secretly hate us and went somewhere else).....
This is one of these places that I would have always put in the category of "blah".
Full of tourists. Boring, with a crowd that is not my cupán tae.
But I was wrong! (Well, kinda wrong. Still lots of tourists and a crowd that isn't necessarily my cup of tea but there is a lot more to it!)
When me and Cris realised the other Yelpers hated us, we had a cry and a hug. Punched a couple of walls and smashed a few glasses. Then we decided to have a drink.
I ordered the chocolate stout. It was nice. In a large bottle (not draught like L. Mulligan Grocers AMAZEBALLS choc stout - see my review).
I was starvos but didn't want to go too crazy with the calories (a week before Chrimbo I was already en route to being festively plump) so I ordered the chicken wrap, this did come with chips however but I resisted eating ALL of them. The chips were sooooo nice. We ordered this food from the al a carte menu downstairs (as upstairs was jammers). It was proper tasty, mad fresh, loads of chicken with a nice side salad. I think it was 7 or 8 Euro. Very very reasonable for what I got.
The food is done by FXB's. You can tell. It be gawwwgeous. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
Unless they decide to have a drag show next week I wont be rushing back immediately to socialise with the regulars but I would deffo go for the food and the choice of world beers. I like my beers!
I love the Bull and Castle's focus on Irish microbrews. Not only is there a great variety available, but they are also so prominently displayed and promoted that people think twice before ordering another round of the same thing they've been drinking for the past twenty years. It's great that they have microbrewed bottles for off sales, and I adore how many of them are also on tap. The prices are higher than for bottles of mass-produced swill, but I expect that for the quality of beer I receive. I have yet to experience the food or the whiskeys but I'm looking forward to that day.
The first time I came here I stayed only a few minutes, but the beers I'd first met at Septemberfest were all there and ready to be sampled later.
Came back with the bf's workmates on another weeknight. The group of us took up two or three big tables upstairs. It was a fun and social night with everyone sitting around chatting, no hurries or eyeballing from antsy barkeeps or customers.
Now, the downside. I invited two friends here on a weekend purely because of the beer selection. I had no idea the upstairs got so loud on weekends. The three of us girls felt like we were in the middle of a giant stag party (as one friend said); it really was a beer hall. Luckily the downstairs was still quiet. Around 1am, though, they propped the front door open, presumably to freeze us out (or up).
Now that I know what happens on weekend nights, I'll stick to earlier hours and continue to sip in contentment. This is a great place to safely branch out from your everyday suds. The staff are knowledgeable about their brews, and if a beer's on tap but you're not sure about it, they will give you a taster. My personal favourite: Clotworthy Dobbin from Whitewater Brewery. It's like nothing I've ever tasted. Do your tongue a favour and grab a bottle. Then take a few more home.
As I visited my sister in Dublin and we traveled around the perimeter of Ireland in just 10 days, I was slowly becoming discouraged by Irish food. I was sick of mash and sub-par chips and had little to no faith in the ability of an Irish restaurant to serve delicious food.
Then we went to Bull and Castle and my faith was revived. My sister worked as a waitress there for about 9 months while she was living in Dublin and so we decided to go in for a meal to meet her co-workers and have a nice last night in Dublin. It was the absolute best way to end the trip. We each got the combo thing and the food was incredible. I had the Smoked Salmon and Crab Salad, 1/2 Rotiserre Chicken and my sister had the Galway Mussels and the Pork Ribs. (I'm drooling). SO GOOD!
Also they have a ton of beers so if you're sick of the standard Guiness (which I could never understand because it's also so so good) then go for a Galway Hooker or an O'Hara's stout! Thank you Bull and Castle for being awesome!
I was here upstairs in the beer hall on our team party night out.
It's a pleasant bar with a good selection of beer and drinks.
Nice tables too, we were at a spacious square table with benches on each side. You could see everyone, which made the banter even better.
The finger food was nice too, platters were piled high.
There was also a good deal for groups, if you had at least 20 people, everyone got a complimentary bottle of Sol. Nice touch!
The Bull and Castle is part of the FXB chain of restaurants (the restaurants spun from a chain of butchers), so the downstairs is a more casual FXB restaurant. Everything on the menu is good, but the burgers, steak sandwiches and steaks are especially good.
Upstairs is the Beer Hall, where there aren't any TVs or music played, so it's a great place for groups who want to hear each.
The best part of the Bull and Castle is the beer selection. They have 10+ craft beers on tap, including a rotating beer on the lone cask tap. They also have a vast range of bottled beers from all around the world, so this place is perfect for a beer fan like me.
I have it on good authority (from a friend who has the dream job of creating new beers) that the Bull and Castle serves the best range of beer in Dublin. You can't beat that as a recommendation. The fact that he drinks there almost every night (or so it seems) could mean one of two things: 1. that it actually is the best beer in Dublin or 2. that he is actually an alcoholic. I suppose the two aren't mutually exclusive.
Anyway, enough of that. In my experience the beer at the Bull and Castle is quite good (or, those that I've been forced to try, have been rather good) and they are all served in their special glasses, which makes the beer drinking experience all the more special (or so I've been told). There is certainly an extensive range (and some of these can be quite expensive - up to 15 a pint or so...)
But now to my area of expertise... wine! Being both Australian and wine-obsessed, I find that in Ireland I tend to be rather critical of the export crap that skips the shelves of Australian bottle shops and finds its way across the world into the poor, unsuspecting watering holes of Ireland.
My first taste of the Aussie concoction Eighty Acres Sem-Sav Blanc was a Kodak moment, to be sure. It is, without a doubt, the best-tasting Australian wine I have had the pleasure of sampling since I've arrived on the Emerald Isle. I liked it so much I just HAD to have a second glass (even though we only had time to stay for one) and have since been back to try it again. It's the only thing I'll drink there anymore (but once you get on a good thing, why look back?)
There is a huge upstairs area at the Bull & Castle where you'll almost always find yourself in bizarre conversation with drunk, 40-something American tourists trying to re-live their youth, but my personal favourite spot is the outdoor drinking area. Nothing beats a sunny afternoon session at the B&C.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big B&C fan, but I feel that recently it's gone well off the boil.
The positives are plentiful - good food selection downstairs (with well priced early-bird and value menus) and there's always several Irish craft beers on tap. Plus, the beer hall upstairs is great.
However, the last few times I've been, the staff has left a lot to be desired. A couple of the new lads are pretty much useless: no craic whatsoever, impatient, not willing to discuss the products, chewing gum behind the bar (don't know why the manager isn't bollocking them for that?!). Such a shame, as they had a great bunch of staff in nearer the start of the year who really seemed to care about the establishment and the beer. As they say, a place is only as good as its staff.
I think the Porterhouse down the road's beer selection has also improved drastically over the last couple of months, so the B&C has plenty of catching up to do in that respect too.
Improvements must be made!
Great beer hall - tremendous selection of beers - probably one of the best in Dublin at this stage outside the PorterHouse?
Also decent food : modestly priced and well presented range including fish'n'chips, steaks etc.
However - it's as a beer hall that this place shines - tour the world on tap or in bottles, and a great selection of Irish Craft beers.
Without doubt this is Irelands premier beer bar. It is also considered a Gastropub. Some might say because the food quality is a touch above normal pub grub but I consider it because they meld beer and food together. Craft beer is often used in many of the dishes, for instance the Ribs use Galway Hooker IPA as an ingredient in the sauce. Also on the back of the sheet menu, every dish has a beer that compliments it.
The sheer number of beers available on tap and especially in bottles can be staggering.
Most importantly is the Cask engine where cask ales, mostly from Ireland are available and many are only available at The Bull and Castle. The Carlow brewing company uses the B&C as a testing ground for new and one off beers.
The only complaint I have is that in the Beer Hall, at weekends especially it gets very loud with music blasting and it makes it very difficult to have a conversation.
Saturday and Sunday afternoons are my ideal time to go.
Prices are quite reasonable for the location and more importantly the Craft beer is no more expensive than mass produced crap so you feel you get value for money while supporting your Irish craft breweries at the same time.
As well as beer of course, there is a full selection of spirits and wine and more importantly there is a great Whiskey and Whisky selection.
The B&C as well as supporting Irish craft breweries also supports independent distilleries too such as Cooley and Kilbeggan.
There is also an Off-Sales price for all beers on the menu operating during normal off license hours.
Sometimes you still want pub grub but in a less grunge setting, and The Bull and Castle is the answer to your gastropub needs and wants. The atmosphere is somewhat more "classy" (if that's even the correct term to define it) than the average pub. Oh well, it's a gastropub after all.
This place definitely gives the menu some thought. It is a combination of pub food and non-pub food. Besides the traditional pub grub you would come to expect (beef and Guinness stew, Irish stew, pie, etc) they also have other items like smoked salmon elegantly served with a side of greens. We tried the fish and chips, stew, and smoked salmon and they were delicious. The drinks list is extensive which makes it perfect to spend your (entire) night there with their delicious food. We had beer over dinner and to cap off the night we had whiskey. It was perfect and warming before we had to brave the unseasonably cold weather outside.
We would definitely return to The Bull and Castle the next time we're in Dublin.
On the phone, these guys were brilliant. They gave my sister a discounted food quote as she and her colleagues are regular customers. So, we booked a section of the upstairs area for free and food for an estimated 30 people for just €100 for a Thursday night, her 30th Birthday party.
They said we could decorate however we wanted, once we didn't take over the whole floor, so I bought a helium canister (€50 from balloon world, Blackrock) and filled balloons some balloons and kept to our 3 tables in the corner. I had the place set up lovely and then the grunting bar-man came over and moved a few around so he could get easier access. I had no problem with this.
He did annoy me when, an hour and a half later, 5 minutes before my sister was to arrive, he came over and wanted to drop the big screen for the match. Had he pointed this out prior to our arrival, we could have arranged an alternative set up with the decorations, however, he left this to the last minute, which annoyed me, but these things happen.
This bar-man, who seemed to be the manager of the function on the night, was un-pleasant, at best, when it came to drinks orders and sorting out the food. There seemed to be no communication between the lovely person who took our booking on the phone and the disgruntled staff member.
The rest of the staff was absolutely lovely and accommodating.
The food platers were amazing. Meatballs on sticks, battered cod, a chicken wrap, cocktail sausages, chicken. It was all presented in a lovely manner and so tasty.
The toilets are small but kept clean and tidy and for some reason there is rarely, if never, a queue for the ladies!
Really, the one member of staff that we dealt with most often that night grated on our nerves and took something away from the evening. This would have been a four star review but I had to take something away.
Going on the fact that I like Craft Beer bars you can see where this is going to go.
And I am sorry to knock Brendan's review off the top - I'm sure they secretly love you! :P
Anyway, I digress.
First off, It is a well designed pub/lounge upstairs. Spacious, until you pick a seat whereby you end up on a long bench - though I find this is great for meeting random strangers (I'm not a stranger, just a friend you haven't met yet).
I think they give you a lot more information about the craft beers at the bar/tap than any of the other craft beer pubs I frequent, and they have a totally different (foreign) selection than the other pubs, and they have a great selection of beers on special... which is always nice on my pocket.
The other thing I gauge pubs by, and it has to be done these days, is by the food they serve.
I was in here last week for a quick burger before going on a photowalk. This was the first time I went in downstairs, which is more restaurant, and got seated nice and quickly. Ordered the burger and a beer, both were delivered nice and quick. The burger was very nice.... possibly as good as The Porterhouse.... shh don't tell anybody I said that :P.
So when I went there this week I knew I was going for the burger again. This time I was upstairs and happened to see their big sign on the window, facing outwards 'Part of the F.X. Buckley Family' and THAT explained why their burgers tasted so nice.
If you don't frequent butchers in Dublin ignore this:
Buckley's on Moore street is by far the best butchers in the city. Ask any housewife over a certain age. Best quality meat, best prices.
So anyway. The burger was as great as the first time, made of great meat.
So if you want a good burger, and a great selection of Craft Beers then this is the place to meet the friend you haven't met yet!
This 5 star rating is intended more for this place as a beer hall and less about it being a restaurant. I think of this place as a pub that happens to serve good food.
This place is a beer drinkers heaven. It's very hard to find a pub that serves a good selection of beers in Dublin, but this place makes up for all the other macro-brew friendly pubs in Dublin. It's also the only place I've found in Dublin that serves cask ale. In addition to this they have a frequent buyers card that gets you a free pint for every 8 pints that you buy. The owners/managers also support local brewers by offering up their beer hall as a venue for members of the Irish Craft Brewers to sample each other brews. I don't think there are many pubs in Dublin that would allow people to drink their own beer once a month.
If you get a good day weather wise, they have a small outdoor seating area, which makes for a great after work pint. The only annoying part can be the Christ Church bells ringing. They ring a lot!
They also serve food here, but I've only had a proper meal here on one occasion. It's part of the FXB chain, as others have said, so the food is good. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here just for the food, but with the great selection of beer and atmosphere the beer hall has to offer, iit's well worth a visit.

The general summary was *nom nom nom*, with a slight slurping sound as we licked the plates clean.
I passed on a starter, opting for a main and dessert; steak and scallops followed by the apple crumble. The steak was excellent, delivered medium rare (as ordered) on a bed of mashed potato with scallops surrounding it. The scallops.. oh man, the scallops. Juicy, tender and bursting with flavour. The same could actually be said of the steak - I think I could have cut it with the back of the knife (one of my friends actually did this with his steak by accident).
The crumble was both a surprise and a delight. I was expecting a crisp crumble, and received an oat-based one, but that didn't detract from the flavour at all. Add a small scoop of vanilla ice-cream (to one side, but I didn't leave it there for long) to offset the sharpness of the apple, and *mwah*.
For me, the serving size was perfect, and at ~35 euro for the meal, I'm happy; though at 35/meal it'll be a treat once in a while.
I've only ever been to the bar upstairs but that has been fun every time. I always go here with the same friends but I always meet so many new people!
Good prices, good range of beer and good music.
Ate here today for lunch. Excellent Rueben and fries! I also tried some of my girlfriend's fish & chips which was nice, but tasted overly oily and fried. The ambience was great, and we got a seat right next to both the fireplace and street-view window (if you call ahead for 2-4 people, request this table!) Staff was pleasant overall. Will return to try the steak.
I can't say enough good things about this place. In my two week vacation in Ireland, I ate here 4 times, Great quality meat, nice selection of draft and bottle beers and the muscles were super.
The service I had made me feel like more than a regular, but like family.
I would recomentd this for those who want to dine and relax and for those who want more excitement, go upstairs and you will find a good amount of young, hip, bar goers drinking and enjoying the chat.
I will be back for sure next time I come to Ireland.
