If you're looking for a dirty warehouse party in a commercial venue, this is the place for you.
Dex is a club which is only few steps away from Brixton station, with a late night licence (open until 6am) and an undertone of house.
It has a similar school hall feel as the Scala with one main room and an upstairs that takes you to a terrace and a series of private rooms, including a small alternate dance room which pumps music out on to the terrace.
I caught the terrace on a cloudy winter day but I'm looking forward to checking it out again in the summer.
Dex is not a place for sitting down and chilling out (much). Party all night in the main room and break out to the terrace for a rest and a chat. The crowd is pretty ecclectic and pretty much a good time crowd with not too many weirdos (always a good thing!)
Great staff. I'd give it a whirl if you're in the neighbourhood. Brixton is not short of late night venues but this place bumps itself up to the top of my Brixton list.
I went here recently to see the musical Taboo and it was perfect for that.
The venue was ideal to see a show especially one such as Taboo. It is in a perfect location, amongst all the shops, bars, eateries and bus stops and a stone's throw from the tube. The only annoying thing is the toilets are a little minging and the bar was cash only - seriously!
Dirty dodgy but all right for all of that.
It's one of those classic dodge-ish places that thinks way more of itself than it is. Fine sound. Late license.
The thing to do here, apparently, is drink heavily and then stand up straight and pretend you're sober and/or not going to start a fight when the bouncers eye you shiftily. Seriously. That's the thing to do.
Then get all shouty at passers-by while you're having your fag.
Who'd have thought the Brixton skyline in March would have been so attractive from the large semi-circular rooftop barbecue-bar area of this friendly relaxing club. OK, the copious reasonable red wine consumed might have had something to do with it. But then even when we arrived sober and entered the music room downstairs we loved the vibe. And I chose my rating before I read about their summer hot tub from which to view the stars, so they would then definitely deserve another one from me!
This is a great venue and has a cool, trendy feel to it. The main floor provides a stage perfect for live performances, which adds an intimate vibe to the night. Upstairs you'll find a roof top terrace which makes a nice change of scenery and a fantastic setting to party the night away, or even a suitable summer BBQ venue!
Good multi-use venue in the heart of Brixton and if the weather's good then the rooftop terrace is a must! Inside club area is intimate and works well for seeing live bands.
ace venue for the summer time had a few afterparties here and enjoyed them all!!
