Boxroom is a great port of call if you are in need of fancy dress items, or follow an avant garde taste in clothes. A lot of similar shops in Brighton end up extremely over priced or stripped of all their decent stock. being in Lewes, you find that they have a more eccentric range on the rails and some random cast offs from the 60's and 70's era.
You do have to persevere with hunting through the stalls and rails as items tend to be amassed without a clear categorisation. That being said, it's the kind of place that you don't mind investing a few hours, especially if you uncover a special item.
I would agree with Adam's sentiments o a stock of items that favour the ladies, but you can still find some good cuts for guys. Also, if you leave your name with the holders (and a contact no.) they will happily give you a call if something comes in that you may like.
All in all, a great way to pass an hour in a shop that actually rewards those who take the time to go hunting!
Rails and Rails of vintage and retro clothing. Fur coats and ball gowns, floral and art deco-it's quite exquisite and Box Room is full to the rafters of them. It can be found downstairs at The Needlemakers, where there is a treasure trove of shops and stalls that seem like one amazing basement gift horse.
There are delights everywhere to swoon over, all infiltrating your glazed over vision at once.
Again, the only bad thing to say about it is that there isn't much catered for the gentleman. Girls come out on top and have loads to decide from.
