Gutted at the closure. Was a nice place to go an read undisturbed and eavesdrop on other people's conversations in the cafe bit.

"He's a nice guy, but he uses such complicated words like - what's that word he used the other day? Oh yeah, 'pretentious' and then 'therapeutical'."

Considerately, I hid the book I was reading and picked up Heat magazine at the time in order to avoid blowing their minds if they catched a glimpse of some more "complicated words".

My personal favourite: "A bit of S&M never hurt anyone"

This Borders is easy to get to and has a good selection of books.

Me and my friends picked up a few and sat in the huge, well lit Starbucks and easily whiled away the hours. We weren't hurried on and were surprised to find that we'd spent 3 hours there!

They do have a few book signings here so worth checking out any events they might have coming up.

All in all all a decent middle of the road chain bookstore with no nasty surprises.

What a shame it's closing down and becoming a New Look. Where else will I meet up with my friend to plan our trip to South America.

This place is great, they have a brilliant selection of books that you can take and sit in Starbucks for as long as you like,  with no one hassling you.

Dear Borders,
You, a large, international corporation putting the little man out of business, Me, I come to sit in your armchairs and read your books for hours for free. Your staff never bother me, they are sweet and knowledgeable.

Your selection is easy to navigate and I love finding new books and authors. I feel comfortable here. Sometimes I buy something, sometimes I go home and get it on Amazon. Thanks for being there when I need you.  x0x0

Stunning location right on Oxford Street between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road Tubes. Easily the biggest book store on Oxford Street (only really rivalled by Foyles elsewhere), with huge variety in DVDs, CDs, magazines -- and, of course, books!

Very well-organized and well-staffed, and the inclusion of a Starbucks concession makes it a very good place to meet people in the early evening as a jumping-off point to elsewhere in central London, given its 10pm closing time.

If you're a book-lover, it's definitely worth a visit.

I love Borders.  It is like it's own little mecca - you can literally spend hours in their and not realise it, just browsing, sitting, drinking Starbucks, reading magazines, and the staff can't kick you out!

I think it's the magazine section that really thrills me - with so many titles, in so many languages, despite the fact I actually only speak one language, it feels good to have the option. And the books. And the DVDs. And the CDs. There's just SO much to look at here!

I've found staff here pretty helpful - some of them have that 'I work in a bookstore' superiority which never ceases to baffle me. But anytime I've needed help finding or ordering a book, they do it super thoroughly.

I went here today on my usual weekly magazine stock up. I usually go to the branch on Tottenham Court Road but was nearer Oxford St today so tried this branch out. I got four out of five of my magazines, but i did have to go to the other branch in the end to get the last one.
Apart from that though their selection is really amazing. From music, art, travel, design, fashion, sports and mens magazines there are editions from hundreds of countries with many niche publications not available in newsagents. Its not cheap (most of the imported magazines cost about £6-10) but in most cases it cant be beaten on its wide selection.

Borders it the perfect place to be when you are killing time.  It is one of the best bookshop available on the high street with a couple of additional perks.  Borders is famous for its extensive selection of magazines and newspapers.  Specializing in selling every trade and foreign magazine available, it is a great place to skim through the different publications whatever the topic.

This specific Borders also includes a wide selection of DVDs and CDs, a Paperchase concession, and an indoor Starbucks.  Although, I am not a big fan of Starbucks, there is something rather nice about being able to sit at a table with a coffee while reading your book or magazine of choice without even having to purchase it.

Borders has grown increasingly popular with the buying public and has become as much of a high street force as Waterstones over the past few years. The premise is simple, combine books with music and DVDs and give people everything they want under one roof. For me the result is mixed. I read books compulsively and spend a large amount of money on them every year. The like book shops which are exclusively about the books and staff who specifically want to work in a bookshop. Having said this I must admit that Borders is very good at times like Christmas when I may want to buy a number of things at once without having to travel too far.

There are other nice touches too, particularly in the Oxford Circus store. The classics section is separated from the fiction and is extensive too. There are also a series of books printed on recycled paper which cost between £2-5. This Christmas the only thing I was disappointed by was the lack of Oscar Wilde books available, perhaps they'd sold out?

Centrally located, Boarders is a fabulous bookstore. The ground floor is filled with every magazine and newspaper conceivable! CDS and DVDS are available and they have also recently installed a service where they can burn academic and entertainment titles onto a CD while you wait.

The store, along with its huge selection of books also has a huge concession of paperchase. Perfect when buying a book or magazine for someone, you can complete the present and buy a card and some gift wrap.

One of my favourite past times is to grab a book or magazine and pop up to the second floor take a comfy seat in the glass window and enjoy a big cup of coffee whilst reading. The open hours are fantastic open till 11pm, great for late night shopping or you want to finish some work off but don't want to do it at home!

Considering its size and stock you feel like you are in a little village bookshop where you can browse, seat and read for hours and you want get told to purchase the book first!

Great place for unemployed people like me to wander and waste time. I will be a regular here for the next few weeks until I get a job. Lots of places to sit, esp in the Starbucks area.
