I am so pleased that Blue Banana is back... I've missed you, my old friend! Having moved from it's previous location in the Pallasades, it's now situated opposite Tesco on New Street.
The store doesn't seem as big and is still under construction internally (the decor is just going up at the moment), but as before the staff are friendly and helpful and the selection is varied. There seems to be half women's and half men's clothing in their newest incarnation, which is great (as many of my male friends complain about the lack of alternative clothing for them in Birmingham).
I don't believe the piercing studio is up and ready just yet - but it has JUST opened this week - so I'm sure that will be back on the cards soon enough. There is a wide range of dresses, coats, accessories and cool present ideas (for that goth/emo/punk celebrating something special).
It's New Street's newest shop and I hope it manages to find it's audience in its new location - Birmingham just wouldn't be the same without somewhere for goths and moshers to get their new togs!
BB is the ultimate in alternative fashion, stocking all the biggest brands from around the world. There shop in the Palisades of Birmingham boasts an impressive size and variety of stock.
Now what goes with alternative fashion? Tattoos and piercings do and Blue Banana stock products to help you get into both of those. From Stretching kits to tattoo guns and needles Blue Banana has all bases covered. They also do piercing onsite but bring iD with you just to make sure they allow you to get it done.
The staff are bubbly and friendly and always look the part supporting undoubtedly the newest fashion tends in the genre.
Blue Banana is a great shop for teens and anybody who is after some piercing jewellery, rockabilly dresses or punky accessories. Oh, and they do piercing too of course.
I sometimes go in there to gaze longingly at the Hellbunny dresses or to look for gift ideas for my teenage sisters.
Definitely a good one-stop shop for presents for young family members.
Especially unique, and fab for alternative fashion - emo/punk/rock/gothic etc
Staff are always willing to help you out with sizes/finding what you want, the shop itself is really well set out, all the lights and display manikins in the front window tend to impress customers and entice them in :)
They always have an awesome range of clothing such as attitude clothing, iron fist!, hell bunny, edward scissorhands, death kitty, converse, DC's, and many many more, including Blue banana's own brand of clothing/shoes.
They also have a piercing/Tattoo service, which i have yet to try out, although i have heard good things about the piercings.
Overall a really epic shop if your'e looking especially for a big range of alternative fashion, always great in the sales, you can get some real bargains :D
If you're planning on getting any piercings on your body, I would highly suggest visiting the Blue Banana store in Birmingham City Centre's Pallasades. Although they did my tongue bar slightly wonky, plenty of my friends are a hundred per cent satisfied and happy with their piercing outcomes. The prices for body piercings are relatively cheap in comparison to other tattoo and piercing studios, pricing their nose and tongue piercings at seventeen pounds and ears at fourteen. They do many other piercing requests as well as supplying a small section of their store to tattoos, which the prices will have to be checked with them first as their tattoos range within a wide price assortment. As well as their services to pierce and tattoo bodies, they provide a large fashion section to people within the scene, rocker and punk cliques. And as someone who doesn't conform to any of those individualities, I would say what they retail could be of interest to you as it is to me and therefore I would suggest popping in and checking out what they could offer you.
