I have been a couple of times to the Black Swan which is a lovely pub in Barwick.
I have been mainly at lunch time with work colleagues and there is a very large choice on the blackboard as well as the menus. My work friends chose various dishes, I had a giant yorkshire pudding with corned beef hash in and it was delicious. All my colleagues also enjoyed their food and it was very good value.
The staff were all friendly and we wanted to book a room there for a meeting as it was being offered free. There were also posters advertising a fancy dress evening for Halloween which sounded good fun.
All in all I have recommended it to lots of people and am very impressed.
I came here late one Friday night (well, I say late, but it was about half ten, so we got a couple of bevvies in before last orders), and was pleasantly surprised by just how lively a village pub could be.
Packed to the brim with locals (which you'd expect), it was a comforting mix of old and young, all of whom were dressed up to the nines with their fake tan a-glowing.
The menu on the blackboard on the wall looked delicious, and this was backed up by my friend, who lives in the village, so I'll have to come back here for food sometime.
Cheery staff and an upbeat atmosphere, but wouldn't advise coming here on a weekend night unless you know someone. You're likely to be branded a tourist from the offset
Brilliant pub for lunchtimes.. cheap food and plenty of it.. Clives pies are legendary.. Decent beer and everything at a reasonable price. Parking can be a bit tight but plenty of parking nearby in the village. Trying the evening restaurant menu soon so will update again shortly
