Four of us went on Friday 16th July, on recommendation. The earliest we could reserve a table was 9pm, Not a bad time, or so we thought. We sat down a 9pm. 20 mins later we were asked to place our order, and 40 mins later the starters arrived. They had been forgotten. By the time we finished our main course it was nearly 11pm.
The beer was very good and the food was superb. The problem is that the Black Horse has been overtaken by its success as the delays were unacceptable. Patrons who arrived after us were faced with a much reduced menu.
The waiting staff were working under great pressure and took the flak from us and other tables stoically.
A plus side was that the Manager recognised the bad service and reduced the cost of the meal accordingly.
I suggest that the management reduce the number of bookings especially at weekends, place a limit on the last booking and see what happens.
I would go to the Black Horse again but mid week and 7pm
