When we first visited this distillery, it was almost impossible to buy BenRomach whisky, even in scottsh shops. Since then, it has become quite widely available - I've recently seen it in Morrisons.
This is an important fact as it is one of the few whiskies my wife will drink and really enjoy without putting fizzy stuff in to take away the taste! It is an extremely smooth, Speyside malt which used to be made purely for use in blended scotch - what a waste! I can heartily recommend the BenRomach malt to anyone.
The distillery tour covers all the usual areas, explaining how it is made (and regulated by HMCustoms), stored, diluted (shame!) and then bottled.
As with every other tour I've been on, there is a complimentary dram at the end - OK if you're not driving, but sheer hell if you are!
I would also advise any visitors to 'phone ahead as we had to go back on a different day to take the tour - the first time we went, all tours were fully booked!
A nice little distillery in Forres ( walkable from town centre)producing quite a good variety of whisky. Tour is good but pretty basic but it is a small place - run by 2 people. Seems to have more people working in the visitor centre than the distillery!
