I really like this pub. I think the decor has a little to be desired but its really cozy and the staff make you feel nice and welcome. We sat out at the front last time we were there as the sun was out and it was lovely to watch the World go by.
I had a Sirloin steak when I ate there and had no complaints at all. Cooked perfectly and tasted nice and fresh with all th etrimmings. I wouldn't mind going back to try their Sunday roast as it has a good reputation.
We were there at lunch time so there was no music on but we will definitely be going back to see one of the live gigs there!
My least favourite of the four pubs in Pagham village, The Bear would otherwise be a decent pub, but compared to the competition, it is only a 2.5 star kind of place.
The decor is a little jumbled from area to area, which gives the place a slightly uneasy feel.
The staff behind the bar are pretty friendly and helpful, but the younger food waiting staff can tend toward the monosyllabic.
Food is pretty decent here and certainly very good value, with desserts being a real highlight in terms of taste and variety.
Overall, I have no great complaints about The Bear and I certainly commend the decent live music that they host here.
Lovely traditional family pub and restaurant with on site B&B facilities. Great atmosphere with regular theme nights and entertainment. Popular with Butlins visitors so can get busy at the weekends. Get there early for a seat!
