Running a library in Basingstoke might seem odd I mean, it's not exactly the European Capital of Culture, is it? but this is a good place with a huge selection of books and plenty of seating. Lots of computers for internet access, tables for studying, and friendly, helpful staff. I love to come here for a bit of peace and quiet when the town centre is too busy (i.e. most of the time) and it's a great place to get a book and sit down. A nice piece of culture in a convenient part of the town centre (close to parking, too).
This has always been a great library, with a huge reference section. You can normally find what you're looking for and as pp said, it's a great place to go if you want some p&q.
They are helpful and there's a great drinks machine, only 30p for a coffee. Lot's of computers to use and places to sit. check out the notice board because there's always something going on.
This library is located in Festival Place Shopping Centre so is in a very convenient location. I took my son with me to join the library and discovered he could have 11 books out at once which was very surprising. They also gave me a free book bag filled with books and other goodies for him. The children's section itself is a little disappointing as many of the books look a little worse for wear and there are not that many interesting titles and not much variety. The DVD section is a little better. I also feel that it is not located in a very good position as it is close to the computers were adults are busily working away obviously getting a little annoyed at the noise of the children.
