Nearly a year later, and I'm definitely still feeling the same love that Matt D yelped about last December.
This cozy coffee-by-day, cocktails-by-night super spot not only boasts aesthetically pleasing wooden floors, killer lighting, communal tables, and a fantastic board game section, it also holds that magical ingredient of being a local family run establishment -- yep, it's truly a for Hackney, by Hackney watering hole.
When describing themselves, they say they're an "East Village bar that got lost and ended up in East London." This is true to form in everything from beer and cocktail selection, (think Presbyterians, Long Island Iced Teas, MGD, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams,) to their willingness to allow you to bring in a slice (or entire pizza,) if you so choose.
Long story short, this is certainly a great local find along Broadway market and one not to miss.
Quite a fan of this little place. Very friendly bartender, pretty decent (and pretty cheap!) Mexican food, board games, and.... beer!
Combine all these things together, along with the great location, and you have a winner. If I lived a little closer to the area, I could see this place becoming my regular. Call me another annoying Yank, but if my choice of pub grub is between tacos and (British-meaning) chips, I'll go tacos every time.
Looking forward to heading back to this place.
Finally managed to have some of their Mexican food and it was decent stuff. Not so bursting with flavour as Chilango, but still avery nice and big burrito. It's not too expensive either! Which makes a change for this street.

Nice bar that always seems busy on an evening.
They now do Mexican street food, menu looks simple… Read more »
I have only sampled the delectable atmosphere and cocktails at this bar so cannot comment on the food yet ... but boy oh boy!!!! 'wolf whistles!!!'
We dropped in here one night after a yummy dinner at the Dove. I'd walked passed the bar many times.. always thinking i should pop in to sample the red candle lit tables... the atmosphere of creative types chatting in hushed tones while the music plays in the back ground.
We were not disappointed, we managed to find a table ... ordered wine and margaritas and proceeded to get rip roaringly plastered. It was fabulous. The barman was awesome. I complimented his margarita so he made it even stronger!!!! There are fish in the cisterns in the loos .... just fab.
I loved this bar .. ill go back and back and back again. yippeee doooo!!!

If you can look past the half shaved heads and ripped skinny jeans you'll find a host of cute cafes and brunch spots littering the street around the market. This is one of them, and gem it is.
With a bar feel it also serves pretty decent filter coffee (yee ha!) and has a selection of sunny seats to laze in on the weekend. It's a great people watching hang out, as you're inside but feel like your sitting outside. This is why the middle class "creatives" move to this area, for places like this. A pub/bar with a fantastic atmosphere, hidden private dining area downstairs and a selection of home cooked foods up on offer. I like it I really do, but I can't love it. Give me a dirty old man pub any day. ;O)

Have been to this bar quite a few times and have loved it every time we managed to get a table. The downstairs area is loud and I'd rather go to the Dove nearby than go down in Bar Off Broadway. Their selection of beers is lacking, but that gives you a license to go for something different. Other than that, this bar rocks!
I usually go for the house red, which is quite safe. Occasionally, I go for a standard cocktail. I usually end the night with an Irish Coffee, which most of the barkeepers are very good at making. The barkeepers themselves are very fun to talk to and extremely efficient in serving. I haven't had a proper meal here, and the only recommendation I can give on food is to go for the meat-board over the cheese-board.
There is a nice and relaxed feel to this place. The crowd is mostly the local residents from around London Fields, which instantly conjures descriptions such as: 'media', 'artists', 'musicians', 'students' and 'not bankers and City-boys'. Also, the Cat and Mutton pub opposite has never succeeded in luring me away from this bar, and the Dove always smells too strongly of pub food early in the evening. The only other decent option around this general area is the Crown near Victoria Park, but that's a good 10-minute walk away.
This bar is only a puppy at the age of 1 week old. I went there on its 3rd day of being open, and absolutely loved it. Its about time Broadway Market had a bar like this.
It is an American style cocktail and wine bar, but is also open during the day for tea, coffee and chocolates. With its beautiful wooden tables and ornate candle holders, the place is incredibly romantic. It is particularly enticing around this time of year when the windows are all fogged up, and you need a place to escape the cold.
I came with the preconception that it must be expensive, probably because it is so elegant. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that isn't. You can get a lovely bottle of beer for about 2 pounds, I recommend Samuel Adams.
You really must go and check this one out, it is a friendly kind of bar that is well situated in the Broadway Market community.
