Have eaten here several times, and have never been disappointed, last night was no exception. Food and service were excellent. Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants I've eaten in. It's more authentic than most with a very large menu, and has dim sum, which I adore, and is hard to find outside London.
A little pricey than most Chinese restaurants in north east essex but well worth it.
went here for our mum's birthday, it was amazing! firstly the place is gorgeous, lovely decor, really nice feel. we even went and had a look around the gardens, which are beautiful!!
the food was amazing, we each did the shanghai set menu it was so much food for the price and all delicious! the foods that were mild still had so much flavor and kick to them. especially the crispy beef, also the best duck pancakes i have ever had - sometimes you get a lot of fatty bits or really crispy bits when you get a chinese takeaway but the duck was so moist and tasty here.
I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago, with my girlfriend who is used to Chinese takeaways which I dislike and told her I would take you to a proper Chinese restaurant one day. So I decided to take her here.
As you walk in you just know it is going to be a good meal the staff were so friendly and polite and the restaurant looked fantastic.
There was a good range of dishes, and plenty of vegetarian options. The food was of the highest quality and the staff were extremely attentive and courteous. It's not the cheapest place to eat (our set menu was around £22 per head) but the high standard of food justified this. If you are looking for a classy venue for a meal out, I would definitely recommend it.
But for some reason my girlfriend didn't like it which shocked me as I thought it was brilliant well you cant please everyone.
I had heard rave reviews about this place from several friends, so decided to try it out. I have now been on two occassions and it has impressed in the main on both.
The quality of food depends on whether you are eating as a normal table or a party size. On my first visit I was with 12 others and therefore I feel the quality was watered down, despite being more than acceptable. On my 2nd visit, as part of a table of 4, the food was immense. The dim sum was delicious, the duck was succulent and the chicken melted in your mouth. Others on my table had crab, which despite being messy, was enjoyed by all.
Both times, however, the service was top notch. The waiters were friendly, helpful (especially at demonstrating how to dissect the crab) and constantly attentive.
As others have said, the price may be high, but quality speaks for itself. This is well worth going slightly out of your way for. Top marks.
Dim Sum in Colchester!!!!
Real Chinese food - Hong Kong style. Not for those used to Chinese take away food.
Nice outdoor garden too.
Went there yesterday - first day of the Year of the Snake. It was very busy but we were given a table after a short wait. We didn't have high expectations for the food on such a busy day but it turned out excellent, comparable in quality as top Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong. When we left, the lady boss gave the children red packets with money inside. That was totally unexpected. It was a very kind and generous gesture.
