This was quite frankly the best meal I had in Birmingham during a 15 days business trip.
Everything was perfect: service, food, atmosphere.
We were lucky to get seated on the patio without any reservation. The sofa seats were quite comfortable and right away we felt relaxed and at ease. Everything we ordered was prepared to our liking (perfectly cooked steaks) and from beginning to end all dishes were perfectly executed.
I will definitely go back and bring business guests if I have a chance to be back in the area.

Great setting, this place looks really nice. It's good to see that they have a large fully stocked bar too. They have cocktail competitions with upmarket bar, Neuvo around the corner.

However, spending £50.00 on lunch for two people (ordinary juice and beer drinks had) I expected something a little special.
The risotto was closer to crunchy or raw rather than al dente. The portions for starters were more like portions for mains though. Which you can see as a good or bad thing. I certainly couldn't manage to finish my bowl of crunch. :p My partner's calamari was good, but again served with a noodle salad which was probably more suited to a listing of a light lunch item rather than a starter on a lunchtime menu!

We both had steaks for mains. Listed as flat iron on the menu, they came as normal steaks sliced thinly instead. The menu suggested that they would be served medium (fair enough for flat iron steaks) but the thicker steaks came without a hint of pink. They were served with shop bought fries and no other whiff of a garnish was seen.

I would have sent my overdone steak back if any of the many staff present had bothered to check back and ask if our food was ok.

Nice setting but wouldn't go back for disappointing food. Seems like it might be nice for drinks outside in the summer though.

Went with a group on a Saturday night, and felt that the service, was well below what can be expected given the price of the food on offer.

Drinks orders were taken but regularly took over 15minutes to arrive. When we asked our waiter his response was simply "they're on the way" rather than chasing them up. This attitude continued throughout the evening.

The atmosphere was also lacking, the tables are closely packed together, and the place was noisy with poor acoustics, so it was difficult to speak to anyone except those directly next to you.

There are certainly better options for a meal in this area. Avoid

Although the food is amazing the service leaves a lot to be desired, very slow, incorrect orders, not in keeping with the dining experience, felt very much like an up market fast food joint

Bank is based within Brindley Place where there are many bars and restaurants to choose from.  I have been here several times for drinks, but never for food so a return visit is a must as I've heard good things.

The bar has a classy feel to it, and there are many seating areas - high red stools situated by the bar and seating with tables dotted around the bar area.

They offer a wide variety of whiskys, spirits and cocktails.  I found the bar staff to be attentive and friendly.

You are able to book a table for food via their website where you can dine in the main restaurant or the private dining area which is ideal for a special occasion.

There is also outside seating complete with plush white sofas which would be perfect for pre dinner cocktails.

I shall be returning to sample their food menu, so will update my review in due course :)

Birmingham has some great restaurants, as we all know.  Some are better than others, and often they come and go within merely a few years.  Consistency is a rare thing in the restaurant world.

One of the best known restaurants in Birmingham is Bank, and it is known for simply getting it right, on time, every time, all of the time.

My partner and I chose to dine on a Thursday night, as it wouldn't be as busy.  How wrong we were.  They were going at it like the recession never happened.  We were greeted at the door by very friendly smiley staff, the likes of which you do not get at some establishments.  After a short drink in the very busy bar we moved swiftly to our table in the far corner, away from the crowds.

Our table was nice and sturdy, and overlooked the canals and the NIA.  When the nights get lighter it will be a lovely place to sit and gaze out.

Our waitress, Erica, was very switched on, attentive and knowledgeable throughout the evening.  She brought us nice crispy bread rolls and some very tasty olives and garlic to nibble on while we were choosing from the menu.

As the designated driver I was on the chateau coca-cola for the night but my partner had a glass of Pinot Grigio blush.  It was nice, and cold and crisp, apparently.

For starters we had gone for the Prawns in Tempura Batter with a chili and lime jam (me) and Grilled Asparagus topped with Poached Egg and Hollandaise sauce (her).  The prawns were cooked just enough to still be juicy, and cooked in Tempura batter, which was nice and light.  I loved the jam accompaniment and must have a go at making it myself one day.  Herself delighted in her Asparagus, which was cooked beautifully with the perfect poached egg on top.  And, believe me, she can be fussy about her poached eggs.

Between courses I popped to the bathrooms and had a general explore of the place on the way back.  Bank also has a private dining room for about thirty (at a guess).  It has a well stocked bar, and some of the best award-winning cocktail bartenders in Birmingham.  The whole place is in a good state of repair, but it could do with a lick of paint and a bit of upholstery.  Most of this is scheduled to take place over the summer and autumn.

I returned just in time for the steaks.  Herself had gone for the Rib-eye while I had settled for the Sirloin.  Cooking a steak to the customers requirements must be the least exact science known to man.  I had asked for medium rare, so, knowingly, they had cooked it the rare side of medium.  With a steak it is always safer to under-cook it slightly, so if anyone complains, they just give it another ten seconds.  Better than throwing it to the dog and starting again.  It came served with the traditional steak garnish of flat mushroom and grilled tomato.  And you can't argue with that kind of tradition.  We also had proper fat chips, and a rocket salad.  Herself loved the salad, rocket leaves, freshly shaved Parmesan and balsamic vinegar.  It went perfectly with the steak, she said.  So know I suppose we will be having a lot more salad at home.

The service was attentive, and not rushed, but far from slack.  They just get on with it in a calm and professional manner.  They have a simple white uniform with a long black apron.  These are a good idea, they are easier to change than a whole shirt in the middle of a busy night.

After the steaks we had a little rest before choosing a dessert.  We were pretty full so we agreed that one to share would be adequate.  After some debate, as we do about such things, we finally agreed on the Baked New York Cheesecake with a berry coulis.  And also, a cappuccino for me.  We concluded that we made a very good choice, it tasted fantastic, and creamy without being too heavy.

On our way out we said goodbye to Gemma, who greeted us earlier, and told her a little about the website.  She was the epitome of charm with a lovely smile.

So to sum up:  Bank is one of the city's leading restaurants and takes it's responsibility very seriously.  It's food is first rate and it's staff are wonderfully professional.  It has a great location and, for the quality, is far from overpriced.  We recommend it highly.

Based within the gentrified surroundings of Brindleyplace, Bank Birmingham is extremely sophisticated with the character of a lively French brasserie.

When I walked through the revolving doors I was absorbed by the busy atmosphere, vibrant setting and enticing aromas.

The dining area is large yet cosy with a chilled, atmosphere. Vast wine racks sit in pride of place on the back wall, mixed with views of the chefs in action in the open kitchen, whilst the front overlooks the famous 19th century canals.

The alfresco terrace areas are a nice place to relax in and they also boast superb views, making them the perfect settings for enjoying the hot summer days with a delicious meal or a mouth watering cocktail.

I came to Bank with family and we were treated to five star service in this splendid environment. I had the Carpaccio Salad for starters. The meat is actually raw in this dish, but is sliced so thinly that it melts in your mouth. Bank have done the Carpaccio Salad justice, after I had finished I wanted another helping. I could barely wait for the main.

For my main I decided to have the Filet Mignon, I had it rare and it came out blue. It was warm throughout and I could taste every marbled piece of fat that the steak was full of. It came with a roast tomato, mushroom and hand cooked chips and salad. Simple yet perfect, It was the best meal I have had in a very long time.

If you feel like treating yourself then come to Bank, you won't be disappointed.

Located in the well renowned Brindley Place just off Broad Street, Bank is considered one of the best restaurants in the area and after my visit, I can certainly see why.

The award winning restaurant is a fantastic place to both eat and catch a drink. Known perhaps more for its culinary exploits, Bank is designed with the kitchen as its focal point, demonstrating the top quality standard they adhere too.

Various deals are available, including two courses for £13.50 with a third course optional at the price of £16.50.

Despite a fairly informal atmosphere, Bank has the capabilities both culinary and generally to attract upmarket customers with its welcoming staff, quality food and intriguing drinks.

Basically simple food, but very well done and delicious. The staff here are consummate professionals, moving so quickly and quietly that you don't even notice them refilling your wine glass and clearing your plate.

Great wine list (try the Pouilly-Fume), a great cocktail menu and very good bartenders. They also serve an amazing cheese plate.

This is a great place to go for a special occasion.

Bank is one of Birmingham's classiest and most chic restaurants. The building and decor could rival some of the nicest places I've been to in NYC and LA -- and I'm not talking delis!

I really think the ultra-modern, slightly minimalist decor is to die for. I think the way the name is spelt out vertically on the outside of the building is just groovy -- I'm clearly easy to impress!

The bar is fun, lively, colourful, and always really busy. They have a great cocktail menu, and the guy behind the bar the last time we went winked at me, which Bank definitely gets points for!

The food is good -- nothing spectacular, but definitely dependable. A bit pricey for an all-the-time dining experience, but definitely great for special occasions. A lot of couples go here, but I think a group would really appreciate the drinks menu and the atmosphere before heading into the messy part of the evening.

I believe the restaurant has been awarded two Rosettes by the AA, and their food is certainly plated in "foodie" style, with good presentation and little decorations.

Staff are really well trained, really knowledgeable, and always very friendly.

Despite being a bit of a posh nosh venue, it has a relaxed atmosphere, good music, and a nice vibe. I'd recommend it to anyone for either a nice treat out, or if you're in Birmingham visiting for the first time.

Nice spacious and comfortable restaurant - the round table a definite plus in my book. I can certainly see where people come from in terms of this place being expensive. As Lukeknight rightly says below, sensible choices can make for a great deal. I had the Fish Pie and would highly reccomend - portion size was fantastic and had some really nice Pak Choi in the side. The group I went with all really enjoyed the food and pudding was highly reccomended (I was too full from the pie!). Service was very attentative and friendly.
My only suggestion is regards the sharing plates - overpriced for what you get so I would reccomend going for a normal starter instead.
Overall, great food and great atmosphere.

"Nice Décor, views of canal. Food was ok, a bit on the expensive side. Not much choice for vegetarians. Bank may be known as being expensive by Birmingham standards but by going for brunch means you get the benefit of the attractive modern surroundings (and views of the canals) as well as some of the best food in the city without having to take out a loan. The 2 and 3 course prix fixes menus are good value at £11.50 and £14.50 and the kids are sorted out for £5.95.

For all Sex and the City fans they do a nifty cosmopolitan and a delicious Vanilla Margarita. Meooow!

The service isn't so great and from my experience, the waiting staff were slow; I remember a huge waiting time between each course (25-30mins at a time). Worst thing is, they even try to add 12.5% onto the bill as a "discrete gratuity" which I was not happy paying for considering the length of time we had to wait.

Bank Birmingham derves breakfast, lunch and dinner. I found the menu exciting with plenty to choose from - even for vegitarians. It was served, presented and cooked to perfection.

Not only is the food of good quality but the overall appearance of Bank from the moment you step inside makes you feel you are somewhere special.

In better weather (if possible in England) you can sit outside over looking the canal or over the square and for parties there are private rooms to accomodate for this.

I enjoyed Bank but feel, for me, it would be a place I go to on special occasions due to prices are not affordable to me as I'm a student!

I have been to this restaurant once, but it is my fiance's favourite place to eat in Birmingham. It is definately somewhere to go on a special occasion - we went on Christmas eve and its where we got engaged.
I have also been to the bar here on a few occasions, and it is just lovely. A good atmosphere in here, with really lovely wines to choose from.
This is a nice location in Brindley Place, right Opposite the Ikon gallery, and also by the Sea Life Centre. It has a very romantic location, because the square in Brindley place is truly beautiful with a gorgeous fountain lit up at night, and fairy lights in trees.
A perfect restaurant for a special night out with someone you love.

The food here is great, although it is expensive, as are the drinks, but it is a nice, funky and pretty posh place to enjoy a bite to eat and a lunchtime tipple.

It is quite large too, so there is lots of space once the restaurant has finished for evening entertainment, and the location of brindley Place is really nice.

Easy to get to, and perfect for a spcecial occasion - I would reccommend Bank both as a restaurant and a wine bar.

Bank sure looks pretty, I'll give it that. Situated underneath Deloitte's Birmingham office, you can guess the kind of clientelle the place attracts. It's rather pretentious and overpriced, but at the end of the day the food is quite good.

I had this recommended to me ,and had heard rave reviews,i just left a little disappointed. You do pay a small premium here, but it's not extortionate, and there are set menus.I often feel you get what you pay for, however that's the problem the food was so so,there are better places to eat in brum.I enjoy taking my time over a meal ,as long as my glass is full and the companies good,so the time between courses did not bother me.However,i didn't feel i was made welcome by the staff ,infact at times i felt uncomfortable, they seemed to have i can't care less attitude.I did however pay the 12.5% gratuity, but did debate deducting it from the bill(n.b:i am someone who will reward good service, always give a tip when buying drinks ,or when dining out)

This restaurant is situation in Birmingham and very easy to fine. I have only been here once and it was for a special occasion, the restaurant itself offers a great deal of dishes but to be honest they are quite expensive. This Brassirie is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The restaurant itself is very spaciously and has a great relaxing atmosphere, most of the people here are here on dates or special occasions, its not really the sort of place you go for a night out with friend if you want a lively affair. The surrounding area is very picturesque and as you look out the window you can see a historic canal. Very relaxing atmosphere where the staff are very happy to cater for you

Bank is a true goliath on the Birmingham restaurant scene. It has been one of the places to see and be seen for well over a decade now. The restaurant itself still feels maodern and spacious although many of the tables are very close to thier neighbour.
Bank has private dining rooms for large parties which are like huge glass boxes allowing diners to view the kitchen while the food is prepared. Food at Bank is average (7/10?) Nothing to set the world alight but simple dishes done well - think of some comfort foods woth a few more modern offerings.
The bar at Bank is one of the best stocked in the city and offers some truely great cocktails (Try the bruised Martini - fantastic!) , a couple of draught beers and a range of premium spirits to suit all.
Service is always good. Even when very busy. The best table inside is table 105 right up the corner in the old smoking section. When the weather is nice there is space to dine outside overlooking the canal.
For what it is Bank is expensive but always upholds its standards - much better food for a similar price can be found at Opus in Cornwall St.
Best for (expensive but great) Drinks at the bar or the prie fix menu (5pm-7pm?) which offers 3 courses for £15.

we dropped in for an early dinner this weekend, having strolled down to Brindley Place from the City Centre. Our waitress was very attentive and all our little requests for changes from the meals selected were well executed. Views over the canal towards the City were great, and we enjoyed the free firework displays from the warmth and comfort of our table! The food is good value for money, fresh good quality steaks - I had the tuna which was cooked just as ordered and without the sauce, and was a delight to eat. We tried out the chocolate fondue to share; the marshmallows came pre-toasted but were obviously freshly done, and the choc/toffee sauce was a nice combo with the fresh fruits. It's not fine dining, but a great option for families and friends and looks like space for larger parties as well.

This restaurant is good value for money, not too expensive if you're sensible and the food is very good. Lovely location due to the canal being right next to it and there's plenty of places to go out and drink before and after in Brindley place. The service can be a bit slow form time to time but generally speaking it's pretty good. Don't let that put you off though its well worth a visit, I prefer going at lunch time.
