I love this little gem tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Cambridge. I called and asked if they had Midori, it is hard to find in England. They didn't have it in, but were willing to call their distributor who deals with Midori to add a bottle to their previous order that they were expecting the following day. It was promised to arrive at the 5:00p.m. delivery.
Sure enough I called and checked to see if it had arrived, it did, I went to pick it up, was very pleased with the customer service I received and I cannot wait to return to Bacchanalia to check out their wall of different flavored specialty beers.
You can also find absinthe with worm wood at Bacchanalia. It is always good to know you can buy good absinthe locally.
Can't wait to visit again and invest in their wide variety of stouts.
Suppose, I've probably said it all in the tags...Let me expand.
Bacchanalia is a winery, and theres def another one on mill road, and may be others across the city
The tag line on the sign is "The liver is evil and must be punished" - so read into that as you will
Basically, I like this place because of the quality of the staff. They definitely arent pushy, but if you need any help, they are like wine almanacs. And for all occasions! Its really quite something.
They also do the occassional tasting, which I can only assume is great fun too.
Great little store with super selection of beers. The service is friendly and helpful and knowledgable definitely would recommend.
An excellent selection of wines considering the size of the shop. Prices for wine start at about £5.30, with quaffers conveniently grouped together. Do ask for advice if you're not sure and the staff will be happy to guide you. The owner works there most of the time. I'd be happier if it was open on Sundays, but I guess they need to rest too!
