A superb collection of Newlyn School of Art paintings reflecting the life of the local population, tragedies on sea, and the beautiful, beautiful countryside. Many of the pictures really moved me and I come back to see them again each and every time I am in Penzance. There is a good shop, too, and a lovely tea room. Penlee Park is worth a visit as well. NB: No entrance fees on Saturdays.

We are extremely lucky to have such a great gallery and museum in Penzance. As well as a changing calendar of special exhibitions throughout the year, there is a permanent exhibition of the Newlyn School artists which contains a number of works by artists such as Stanhope Forbes, Walter Langley and Henry Scott Tuke. The museum contains many fascinating items from the distant and more recent history of West Penwith, and there is computer access to a large number of photographs of local interest. There is also an excellent cafe and a well-stocked museum shop selling books, postcards and greetings cards.
