Great cinema, very friendly staff, always very clean. It has all the latest movies. I go quite often, the only complaint I could make is the drinks and popcorn are a bit steep in price but I suppose you do expect to pay a bit more while there and it still doesn't stop me buying them every time I go.
The only cinema based in Barrow, opened quite a few years ago now, but is standing the test of time reasonably well. They have 6 screens so are able to show most of the new blockbusters as soon as they come out. Saturdays have the Little Oscars, which are older childrens films (the film being older, not the children!) were all tickets are £2.
The usual cinema fare of popcorn, hotdogs, drinks and sweets are all available but rather expensive. The only semi reasonable price is the childs drink and popcorn for £2.50 (and you dont necessarily have to be a child to buy it!)
This is Barrows only cinema but it is super cinema with plenty of choice for films to see and many viewing times to choose from during the day as well as at night. The staff have always been very polite and most helpful. The queues we have experienced have never too long. There is no problem with them accepting orange Wednesday mobile text vouchers for 2 for the price of 1 tickets. The seats are comfy, the leg room good and good sound quality. Snacks are always over priced at these places and this cinema is no different in that way to any other one we have ever been in
I was very surprised to find empty seats, when Twilight New Moon had just came into the cinema. But it was a great satisfaction to see the least. The only gripe i have, is the price of popcorn, and drinks. i paid 15pound for two popcorn, and two drinks, which i personally thought was on the high side. The cinema was very clean, and had a friendly atmosphere. i will certainly be returning in the near future.
The Apollo is situated on Hollywood Park in Barrow, a retail and car park a couple of minutes walk from the city centre. There's plenty of car parking space which is great. The cinema itself opened about 10 years ago but it still fairly modern, with 6 screens - it shows most of the latest releases and blockbusters, although annoyingly it occasionally misses out films completely if they're not going to be that popular. It has several showings a day, with the most popular being around 6pm and 8.30pm. Pre-booking is advisable if it's a very popular film - when Mamma Mia came out recently it completely sold out for four nights running! Prices are about average for a cinema - children and students £4.50, adults £5.80 - but they also accept the Orange Wednesdays tickets on a Wednesday which gives you two tickets for the price of one - bargain! They have a good selection of the usual snacks, drinks, popcorn, hotdogs (massive ones- well recommended!) etc - although as with most cinemas prices are quite high, so you might want to sneak in your own drinks and sweets. Well worth a visit on a rainy night when there's nothing else on!
Not the biggest of cinemas with only 6 screens, however they do offer 3D as well as normal films, with 3D costing 3-4 pounds more than normal. Great parking facilities as it's right in the middle of a retail park. A mere 200 meters away from McDonalds, Pizza Hut and KFC it's in a great place to go for a bite after watching a film. The ticket corner has been closed for renovation for a while, so simply purchase your tickets along with any drinks or snacks you want at the refreshment counter.
