A little out of the centre of Burton on Cross Street is Apne India Cuisine. A bright and a modern feel inside; fortunately we had got there early, so we managed to get a table but the restaurant filled quickly, a mark of the popularity of such a new restaurant. It serves soft drinks but has a no license for alcohol , so you have to either go next door to the Coopers to get a pint or bring your own. Not much of a hassle really and keeps the price of the meal down. Menu wise, fairly comprehensive with lots of classic dishes and some interesting specials. What strikes you too is the price, very reasonable compared to many Indian restaurants, the mains on average about £7.

After the obligatory poppadoms, with various spicy sides, we had a mixed kebab starter - a nice mix of shish kebab, chicken tikka and a bhaji, with accompanying dressed salad, a good start. For main course I had Special Biryani, a huge portion with a good helping of prawns, lamb and chicken, with an appropriately spicy sauce - just right. My wife had a chicken Polok, spinach and chicken, and my friend had one of the specials, which had whole cloves of roasted garlic in it! All great meals, very tasty and not oily or fatty, as echoed by previous reviewers.

An enjoyable meal and only £40 for poppadoms, two starters, three mains, accompanying naans and three soft drinks, that's what I call a bargain! The staff were great too, friendly and helpful, without being obtrusive, which shall return very soon.

Probably worth 3.5 stars, solid Indian food, very popular / busy on a Fri night. Our party of 4 ordered enough food for 6 and the chef even provided a 'special chicken' dish which was fantastic and on the house. it does not sell beer or wine etc. so you can bring your own in which is great with me. Service was a bit slow, it was busy of course but we all noticed the water service was a bit slow, nitpicking perhaps as everything else was fine. Decor is sparse but atmosphere was booming, almost a touch loud perhaps. Reservations recommended on Fri and Sat or you may wait a good 45 minutes with limited waiting area you could be outside.

Excellent new addition to Burton's curry scene. Well-priced dishes with very generous portions, and tasty poppadum pickles. The waiter was fantastic - very polite and welcoming. He was chatty and friendly without being intrusive, he took the time to discuss individual dishes and showed an interest in us being vegetarians.

We were pleasantly surprised to be brought a free extra dish to taste alongside what we had ordered. This was a new vegetarian dish that they wanted our opinion on. We did go in on a quiet week night, so i don't expect that this will be the norm. All of our dishes were excellent, not too heavy or oily, but delicately flavoured and with a good spice level.

This would be a great restaurant for groups as it has the added bonus of being unlicensed, so bring your own alcoholic drinks.

Certainly rye nicest curry house in burton. Was a little shocked when walking in the door because it seems to be in an office block, but once inside it certainly has a restaurant feel.
Very good atmosphere, amazing service, beautiful food and all at a good price.
You can bring your own alcohol and drinks too.
This was my first outing as a vegetarian, and I was well catered for! My favourite dish was a vegetable hot kurma.
      Well worth the tip too.
      I'll be back.

Was my favorite Indian restruant since it opened but we now cant get in, it is so popular - the restruant opened and didnt advertise instead relied on word of mouth this just showed how many people enjoyed it as it so very busy at weekends. The proprieter is very friendly, a very nice gentlemen. The menu is a nice change from the standard meals it is really 'top notch' Indian cooking. Tip nip to the devonshire pub and bring a pint with you - let the barmen know - they do allow it.
