Since it opened it's doors three years ago, Amber has become a firm favourite with locals. A stylish cafe-bar on Rose Lane, it's decorated with worn wooden furniture and shabby chic features like chandeliers and gilded mirrors. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are friendly and the clientele usually includes couples, families and groups of yummy mummies. The lunch menu consists of fresh soups, salads and club sandwiches with fries and salad whilst the evening menu extends to lasagnes, risottos, burgers, fish, meat and steak.

The reason I keep returning to Amber however, is their brilliant Sunday brunch. There's classics like scrambled egg and smoked salmon, eggs benedict, eggs florentine, omlettes and pancakes alongside full English and Veggie Breakfasts. The latter includes grilled hallumi, cherry tomatoes, sausages, eggs and toast and is tasty, tasty, tasty!

    First to Review

Situated in the quieter Rose Lane, just off from Allerton Road but near to the big Tesco, this wine bar and bistro does quite good business through the week as well as weekends. Pleasant without being pretentious, it boasts an impressive wine selection and hearty food.

The prices are reasonable too, with most wines falling between the £10-£25 mark and the decor makes you think you're getting a bargain. Done out in luxurious wallpaper and accessorised with gold, the Parisian influence isn't hard to spot. Rose Lane is attempting to be the next Allerton Road, which in turn is attempting to be the next Victoria Street, so beware of ladies-wot-lunch types.

Definitely somewhere I'd choose over the local competition!

Amber has only been a resident of Rose Lane for 3 years now but it has established itself as a real neighbourhood restaurant reflected in its simple menu and good prices.

The staff are some of the best in town, really attentive without being annoying they give the place a good homely feel even when it's a choca saturday lunchtime.

A daily specials board means that even a regular visitor can try something new most days but I know plenty of people who regularly go back just for the fish and chips (the beer batter is dead crispy) or the burger (freshly made and the size of yer head)  - proper comfort food.

However, between the reflective wallpaper, mirrored walls and chandeliers I wouldn't go in with a hangover!

Amber is extremely luxurious and dripping in gold leaf, with chandeliers, gilt mirrors and quaint Parisian furniture, the bar staff are pro's and there is a sense that you're somewhere much more well-to-do than Rose Lane.
Although visually a little busy, it's lovely and they seem to be going for the Sex in the City crowd with their not so subtle Special 'Sex in the Suburbs' where you can get 2 courses with a champagne cocktail or G & T amongst other girly tipples for £11.95. Carrie and the girls would be spotted here (well, if this was NYC) and I have no doubt that ladies would enjoy a good luncheon with more than a few cocktails to kick start a dazzling evening.  Recommended if you want to splash out a little and dine in decadent surroundings.

Amber Wine Bar & Bistro opened in 2006 in affluent Mossley Hill. It's an opulent affair, inside and out, with lots of mirrors, gilt and chandeliers tastefully integrated to create a contemporary feel for this restaurant and bar. The menu at Amber offers a range of classic bistro dishes with a Mediterranean twist and all but one of the 31 wines are available by the glass.

The best full English breakfast in Liverpool, big portions, with fantastic homemade sausages. Great decor and friendly service. There are lunch and evening menus as well, with brunch options available, however I have never eaten off these menus.
