When I realised true comedy was not on telly but tucked away in pubs, I discovered many live nights. This - without question - is my favourite. Great acts coupled with the MC's infectious passion and quick wit make for a show that must be unrivalled on the London circuit. And it's ridiculously good value for money.
Always Be Comedy run comedy nights in Kennington, Dulwich and Putney.
We boast the biggest names and the best new talent.
Established in 2011.
In June 2011, comedian James Gill and tech king Stuart Keeping had a dream: to launch a comedy club! Because there's not many of those around! Always Be Comedy (please email us if you get the niche film reference) in Kennington was born. Their friend and logistical tyrant Gemma Fensome then got on board to whip the night and the two schlubs into shape. Over time, Always Be Comedy's reputation grew, thanks to great acts and a great crowd, always up for joining in with MC James Gill's increasingly bizarre games. ABC has now had the likes of Russell Howard, Jason Manford, Seann Walsh, Nick Helm, Alex Horne, Russell Kane and many more perform, with the empire spreading to Putney, Dulwich and beyond. Come along. Join the fun.
James Gill co-founded Always Be Comedy in June 2011 with Stuart Keeping and Gemma Fensome.
James started stand-up in April 2010, gigging in London and beyond, at the likes of Up The Creek, Komedia, the Comedy Cafe and much more.
He has written for Fighting Talk, Jimmy Carr, the Sun, ShortList and was a weekly columnist at thelondonpaper.
MCing is his real love, and as well as Always Be Comedy, he has also MCd for Crack Comedy, Comedy Heat and much more.
