Me and my 2 year old regularly visit the leisure centre as its very easy to get to and there is lots of parking. The recent improvements have made a huge difference to our visits. The changing villiage is fantastic, it offers large family changing rooms so me and my hubby no longer have to take turns getting the little one changes. The changein area is light bright and clean. There is a large number of lockers which require a £1 deposit which is returned when you are finished. there are toilets within the changing area and out side.
the showers are warm, sometimes a little too warm for my son. The pools are clean and cater for all swimming abilities. There is a seperate baby pool which is great at busy periods.
There is also a cafe, a gym and recently opened nursery.
Recently this has undergone a £1.2 million investment with CLS leisure. They have upgraded all changing facilities as well as installing a state of the art gym and adding conference facilities.
Well worth a visit, it is open to all members of the public and is definatley good value for money.
As well as swimming facilities there are squash courts and also several courts which has multi purpose use.
Have a look at the website for full details of all facilities available.
THIS REVIEW IS OF THE SWIMMING POOL ONLY
I decided to try the All Seasons Chorley swimming pool as it is on the way back home from my work. A warning to all serious swimmers (i.e. those who swim laps of a stroke other than breaststoke!) this is a terrible pool to swim in, for the following reasons;
a) very shallow, meaning lots of waves (fingertips brush the bottom for most of the length when doing frontcrawl)
b) the roof beams are at an angle to the swimming pool lanes - therefore making it near impossible to swim backcrawl without bashing into something (or someone!)
c) the lane ropes are just that . . . ropes. Rubbish for cutting down on waves from nearby lanes.
And finally . . .
Was told at the reception that there would be lanes for public swimming (~5:30pm) . . . only to be told after 15 minutes of swimming to get out of the only lane available!
As a result you can't be guaranteed a lane even if told so, and if you do have a lane - it isn't going to be rewarding swim!
I recently became a member here - not to use the gym I'm not that good!- I joined to take the yoga and aquafit classes which are great fun.The yoga class is on a Friday which really relaxes you ready for the weekend.As well as the usual aerobic classes and of course swimming there are combat exercise classes , spinning (static bikes which is harder work than it sounds ), and salsa.There are quite a few membership types or you can pay as you go, this is how I became a member I was enjoying the classes and going that often it was cheaper to join. The staff are friendly and helpful and with junior swimming lessons there is something for all ages. The only moan I do have is that the vending machines and cafe are a bit pricey but then thats the same anywhere.
