I love this place.
When I lived in Wimbledon that was my once per week treat dinner. I even had my couple birthdays dinners too.
The staff is very friendly and soooo much fun. They will do anything to make your experience there as fun as possible.
I came back after 2 years and even the waitresses were the same. Such a great place.
The food is amazing! The large pizza is Really large so you might need help if its only two of you.
All pastas are delicious and very authentic.
I do recommend this place for dinner or function.
I wish I still live in London....
Nice family restaurant, expect a informal service!
Rocket and Parma Ham are my two favourite things. Now slap them on a pizza? There's only one other Italian place that did that, and they were located in Napa, California. Now I can get a fantastic one to myself and it's a short walk from my flat? FANTASTIC!
Just a lovely restaurant. Two levels, indoor and outdoor seating, and two bars. Just a lovely place with great service and friendly staff. Can't wait to bring my family here! :)
I lived in Wimbledon for almost three years and it took me at least 18 months before i even realised this lovely Italian side street restaurant existed, but i'm so glad i discovered it eventually!
It's a rustic style Italian with the essential brick pizza oven. The menu is very affordable and the food is great. They have a fantastic range of pizzas, pastas, fish dishes , grills and veggie options.
Being a bit of a cheese freak the Quattro Fromagi was delicious for me and for 14 pounds i got a 'medium' pizza but for me this was more like a large. The large pizzas are massive!
The staff are great, really friendly and easy to have a laugh with, the atmosphere on a busy evening is great and for all of these reasons i highly recommend a visit to Al Fornos.
Home to possibly the biggest pizza I've ever eaten. Great buzz in this Wimbledon local.
Did I mention the gigantic pizza, I blame my friends, peer pressure has never tasted so good though! Except for the extra spicy chilli's billed as peppers. Couldn't tell you what else was on the menu but judging by the busy crowd in here I'm sure it's more then super-sized pizzas getting the punters in.
Apparently the red wine was foul, according to Dave the wine critic, all in all a great night. Roll on Mojitos and jumping up and down, which we'll call dancing.
The service is great, almost too friendly and attentive at times. So much food. We always leave with leftovers. Each entree comes with a soup, salad, and garlic bread. I really love their Italian dressing and garlic bread.I have a feeling I'll be coming here a lot since a friend just moved basically right next door to the restaurant.
Al Forno's is Wimbledon's bonafide Italian restaurant. Set over a two level shop front just left of Wimbledon Broadway, Al Forno's offers the discerning eater a range of pizzas, pastas, seafood and grill options all cooked in authentic Italian style. My favourite part is ordering from a real Italian waiter, all of who know Italian food very well, and have probably spent many a day fending off their grandmother's requests to feed them.
You must request the four in one option of Al Forno's pizza range: this pizza is absolutely huge and cooked to perfection. I would go as far as to say that their four-in-one pizza is one of the best I've tasted. Margarita and pepperoni, meat, chicken and Italian sausage were our choices, and for £15, the effects of four full satisfied stomachs were quite apparent thereafter. Our waiter even got a complimentary shooter as thanks for his tip.
Good Italian Food and fantastic warm welcome from these Portuguese restaurateurs. The food here is good and the wood fired oven does help pizza taste that little bit better here. A warm welcome is customary here as they put on the 'Italian' charm but that said it is a nice, fun place to visit from time to time.
Besides in the chain shop hell that is Wimbledon, an independent like this have to be a bit special to survive. Prices are reasonable and if it is your birthday, shots always seem to turn up as these guys like to party.
great taste and servings
you need an empty tummy for this place.
I would definetly recomend this place as its reasonable prices aswell as great tasting so a good combo. The lasagna is lovely but my favourite dish is hte seafood rissotto, full of prawns clams and mussels. They also have some very nice deepfried calamari
If your after a table in a quiet corner for a romantic meal then don't go here. But if your after great Italian food, great atmosphere and service with a smile this is the place. The Italians running this place and loud and have a great sense of humour. The food is excellent with all Italian fares catered for. One word of warning is the size of the pizza's, they are huge. The pizza's are very tasty and have a great selection of toppings. The drinks menu is extensive and some good tasting wine on there.
I have been here with a big group for a birthday once and they really made the occasion special with waiters breaking into song. Its very reasonably priced as well.
Al forno is the best place to eat in Wimbledon. Simple as that. Located just off the middle of Wimbledon Broadway (near the theatre). This intimate restaurant simply buzzes with activity. The waitors are vibrant and friendly and will ensure whatever occasion you may be celebrating will be rewarded with good service (and often a shooter on the house if your in party mood!!).
The steak here is brilliant, the pizza's are amazing (be warned - the medium size alone is enough to feed 2) and the food has been amazing every time I have eaten here.
I have moved in the area a few month ago and had yet to find a place I would really enjoy going for dinner to with a few friends....well I think I have found it!
This cute Italian resaturant offers one of the best service I have had in a We went there on a very busy Friday night and yet the staff (from the waiters to the chefs that we could see cooking from where we were) looked really relax, friendly and professional.
I would recommend the filet steak (with pepercorn or gorgonzola sauce) as it is really tender and delicious....that with a nice bottle of Italian red, amazing!
The food is great and the atmosphere is brilliant.
If you live in the area or intend to visit Wimbledon, you need to visit this place.
Word of caution: If you simply want a very quiet night out this is really not the place for you as the waitresses and waiters can be loud at times and crack a few jokes however it is harmless fun that adds to the beauty of the evening,
I've been to hundreds of restaurants, but I loved this one. Really nice authentic restaurant with great service, welcoming atmosphere and delicious Italian food. I felt like I was back in Italy and will absolutely recommend it to all my friends.
For authentic Italian food at reasonable prices, Al Forno's is a solid bet. The pizzas are very generous and the rest of the menu mouth-watering. The service is fast and friendly and if you stay late enough may include some impromptu opera and dancing! One of the most consistently good Italian restaurants I have found in London give it a try!
Had a great night in here when I was catching up with the girls. Great food and will make a fuss out of you if it is your Birthday as we saw when dining in there!
fantastic value and huge portions. I definetly recommend this place.
Great place. Portions could be bigger, and its quite expensive.
This is the friendlest restaurant in Wimbledon, the atmosphere is really warm, the staff seem to enjoy their job, the food is pretty good and not too dear. you can feel relaxed here but at the same time still feel that you are having a nice romantic dinner; what I mean by this is: I think you can make it what you want, posh or casual, there is no set rules, which is nice.
If you go to Al Fornos you can expect very friendly service and very big pizzas.
The staff can sometimes be friendlier than you might expect but that's just because they're Italian.
The small pizza is enough for a hungry person. The medium is enough for 2 hungry people. Don't order the large if you're sitting at a small table because you will have to move.
The pizzas are delicious and the banoffee dessert is fabulous.
Undoubtedly delicious. I experienced the Chef's special, followed the waiters advice , and wrapped up off with a fantastic ice cream dish .
Classic cookery, served up in an unpretentious dining room without a great amount of fuss. The meat definitely speaks for itself, and though non-meat eaters may unearth their choice quite limited, it's a carnivore's bliss. A few of business-types here on a week day lunchtime, but the atmosphere was still fairly casual.
Program was helpful, attentive and regarded as without having to be pushy or stuffy. Will undeniably go back to try a number of the a bit more audacious meals
Love the smell of garlic as you enter and the decor takes me right back to the 70s, heyday of Italian restaurants and coffee shops. We went for lunch and the place was quite busy. The waiter was as italian as the chianti bottles decorating the ceiling, took our order fairly quickly. I asked for a small pizza and thought he had not heard because I got one the size of a large dinner plate but then I saw a large pizza arriving at a nearby table on a wooden board the size of my coffee table! I had the 'pescatori', decorated with prawns, mussels and baby squid. A perfect thin and light crispy base (very authentic) and it was very tasty, though I struggled to finish it. I chose a rocket salad to accompany it, which was nice and fresh, with a tangy dressing and parmesan shavings. My companions had a generous tuna steak and a large plate of calamari, which they said were very good. A good coffee to finish was all we could manage, so I can't comment on the deserts. Recommended!
This is one of the best places in London for a pizza. The pizzas are huge, the staff are friendly and the place has a lovely buzz. We went in a big group and were seated upstairs, we received excellent service. Management of the place is great and you can see that their personal touch makes all the difference in the running of this top notch restaurant. It is a nice family environment as well. Will definitely go back and recomment to all that I can. There is parking in the roads alongside the restaurant but cannot be accessed from main road as the restaurant is on a one way street.
This is a fun restaurant with excellent home cooked real italian food. Staff are lively and friendly. The Pizza is stone oven baked, highly recommend the Calzone. Prices very reasonable. You need to book as this place is often busy, even in the week. Enjoy
I don't think this is terribly authentic the menu has been adapted for richer English palates. Let's face it its probably better for it or for us who expect more punch meals. This is its strength each dish is rich and deeper than an original the quality 90%of the time is great. I especially love the Penne Arrabiata simple yet packed with more garlic than is decent. Pizza fantastic but still pizza Euforia at Wimbledon Chase the best I had in London this a close 2nd. Service now far too loud on Saturday to be relaxed. Prefer it when the waiters just tried to Dance now loud music plays all night on sat I just go on the week or sin afternoon. Still really tasty food and good value. Also do take away.
A very nice place if you want to share a pizza with your friends or relatives. We celebrated two birthdays over there. The staff is friendly and bring their personal touch.
