One review for Aldens Restaurant
All Reviews
A fine dining restaurant in the otherwise not overly refined Ballyhackamore?? Oh yes, and it's really great!
Aldens is only a few miles from where I live and I have loved every meal I have had there. For me, this is fine dining for a special treat, I wouldn't bring my little darlings although I would imagine they would be made most welcome. You will probably pay over £100 for a meal for two with a bottle of wine but it's worth every penny.
Personal highlights have been the monkfish for main and a blissful apple crumble with home made ice cream for dessert. I've also had an apple tarte tatin which almost caused a handbag fight for the last spoonful and a chocolate fondant which is heaven served right up on a plate. Yes, dessert is my favourite course!
The food is perfectly cooked and beautifully presented and there is something for everyone from the time honoured fillet steak to a more adventurous slice of pigeon.
Worth a special mention is New Year's Eve at Aldens - the most luxurious crackers I have ever pulled, a set menu so no shocks with the bill and a real life piper at midnight. Although this is a high end restaurant, they don't mind lots of noise and partying, in fact they should really provide a going home gift of Alka Seltzer and paracetamol for the morning after!
