I have stayed in this hotel once and while it was very nice, conveniently located and very friendly, the room was slightly on the small side. However, the sloping ceilings did make it incredibly characterful and interesting and the staircase and atmosphere within the building is certainly charming. Breakfast was a special delight. The waitress, (who may own the hotel?) was just wonderful! Incredibly friendly and the food was absolutely amazing - really set you up for the day. There was a large selection of traditional English and Scottish breakfasts, as well as a huge buffet full of a more continental taste. The hotel itself, given its location on North Street, was quiet and therefore, really good value for money.
Clean and well placed but poor value for money. A tiny room, ok for one but cramped at best for two, cost £128. Phones didn't work TV small. Ok but better rooms at half the price freely available.
