Love the Admiral Cod! I have come here for drinks and also dinner. It is located off Brompton Road in Chelsea and perfect for after dinner drinks. The bar is cosy and clusters of seating all over. The dining room in the back has a skylight that can open during the summer. There is also a lovely porch on the side and can still be packed in November. Great food and selection of drinks. The crowd is your average Chelsea set and the young royals show up time to time.

Ambiance. Check.
Seating at dark bar was a little cramped but the service fast and thoughtful, offering dozens of choices before we could even ask him how he was doing.

What's not to like? OK, just one thing: Admiral Cod is SUPER packed and it's not a big place. Might have to fight for a seat.

The Admiral Codrington is your classic English pub, gentrified considerably to cater to the local Chelsea crew.  There is a big after work drinks scene so 5pm to 9pm is the busiest time.  If you're looking for a posh, older, English boyfriend (and your wardrobe has enough Prada, Gucci, and Temperly), head here.  Make sure you find a spot, otherwise it can be a bit miserable being jostled around.

However, the food is pretty damn good.  The menu changes seasonably, the bar bites are delicious, and the hamburger to die for.  The staff, when not rushed, are some of the most customer service oriented in London and manage to get your drink pretty fast during the rush.

Not a bad place to head if you're in the neighborhood.

The Codrington is an okay pub with a serious drawback...  It's too damn small, everytime I come in here I end up squeezed up against a wall, desperately trying not to spill my drink as hundreds of people barge past whatever inch of space I have managed to find next to some huge trapdoor in the floor.
Perhap0s it's my own fault for coming here in the evening, but I'd rather take the 10 minute walk down to the Kings road for a selection of frankly more pleasant places...

The food at Admiral Cod probably only deserves 3-4 stars, but the whole experience of the place pushes it to 5 for me.

Highlights - terrace with heat lamps, restaurant is attached to nice pub with good booths and friendly barmen, very friendly waiters, glass roof that lets in lots of light, consistently good staples (steak, fish and chips) and new items added to the menu every few months.

Hard to explain, but I just feel welcome when I walk in, which doesn't always happen in Chelsea. . .

There is also a room upstairs that can be rented for private parties. I threw a baby shower for my friend and everyone was very happy with the food and service.

Came in for dinner during a visit to London. I did not have a reservation so there was a bit of a wait, but I had a (large) glass of wine in the bar area. Excellent vibe, it seemed like everyone was having a great time. The food was very good. As a tourist I really wanted to try the classic fish and chips, which was crispy and delicious, and the mushy peas, which I have never had. They sound kind of gross but they are actually pretty good, with a hint of mint flavor. The sticky toffee pudding was a great way to end the meal. Next time I find myself in London I will definitely return!

A nice little boozer in the back streets of Chelsea that you wouldn't know was there. I go here from time to time when I am having a night out or after work for a change of scenery. A nice if a not a bit small area outside for summer drinking and a fairly large pub with sofa's etc to chat and enjoy some time out.

They have a good reputation for food and have been mentioned in the Michelin guide so they must be doing good things in order to get a mention.

A loyal fan base for this one predominately the Chelsea Polo shirt brigade but it has a nice atmosphere and a good place to spend the evening.  My advice would be to give it a go and if for any reason it isn't for you there are numerous pubs and bars on Walton St which is just a 3 minute amble. Good pub, good food and a good place to go on a Friday night for a few beers in a friendly atmosphere.

The Admiral Cod is a bit unassuming.  You stumble upon it down a nondescript street just off Draycott Ave and inside, the drinking area consists of a a handful of tables and barstools looped around a grand, wooden bar in the centre.  Windows and cream walls keep the fairly simple room bright during the day.  There's a tiny seating area outside which serves its purpose, but like the pub itself, isn't terribly characterful.

That said, the Admiral Cod is quite popular with locals and maintains a steady crowd most nights.  Its restaurant, housed in an adjacent room, also has a dedicated following.  I haven't tried the food (traditional British) but it gets decent reviews and I like the dining area - the long, fairly narrow room sits under an atmospheric skylight/retractable roof.
