Abokado is very similar to the Itsu next door in its offering. However it comes at a better price and with with friendly happier service giving a far more agreeable personal touch than its counterpart.
For the lunch hoardes they stock freshly made sushi, wraps, soups, salads and terayaki stir fryboxes. Some items appear to have been lifted straight from Itsu's menu including the food names. I spied a 'Simply Salmon' sushi box that I am sure Itsu also do. They also sell a 'Salmon dynamite' soup that was sadly discontinued from Itsu so I am pleased to see something similar in Abokado. However I think the relationship works two ways as I am sure Abokado sold sushi shwraps (half sushi half wrap) before Itsu did. Yes I do realise I now come across like an Itsu trainspotter here.
I always lust over the amazing looking thick big triangles of caramel shortcake behind the counter. One day I will crack and order it but today is not that day. Instead I get the spicey chicken coconut noodle soup at £3. The broth and chicken is tasty, and there are plenty of fun mushroom and fungi type things to fish out and eat.
Best for take away as there are only a few stools in a wee tiny space to eat in.
it is not a restaurant, though one would find a couple of tables here and there, but consider Abokado as a step in - take out place. I tried the Vegetable dumplings Gyoza Noodles as take away lunch.
You take your box, bring it at the counter, a clerk fills it up with a hot broth, and by the time you re sitted at your office, the soup is ready.
It is fresh and smells good and taste good.
Was pleased by this first impression.
I ll try the sushi take away soon..
Current lunch spot avg of 3 of 5 working days a week. Probably the freshest lunch you got, London. No mayonnaisey sandwiches like Pret/Eat/Barf...lots of good sushi, small wraps, teriyaki bowls, Asiany soups and smoothies. The fresh salmon they use in all their uncooked dishes is also top notch. Also for under 2 quid you can get porridge in the AM with lots of fun things in it. I generally opt for the cinnamon sugar/banana/granola toppings if I'm feeling festive at 8am.
