While visting Canterbury I stayed here and i have to say this hotel is in a great location. Literally right in the center on High street by all the shopping, restaurants, bars and canterbury cathedral. Plus, Patisserie Valeri across the street has some of the best pastries i've ever had.
-The rooms were nice, a good size and modern. The beds were comfortable but a wee-bit narrow but nothing extreme.
-The staff was O.K nothing to write home about but they are not very knowledgeable of the area but were fine overall
-The restaurant looks like a complete waste of money but then again I didn't find the desire to eat there with so many options just down the street.
All in all will stay there again when in canterbury
Ready for indulgence?
In need of a little pampering?
Would you like an English Breakfast so large and delicious you can skip lunch?
On top of all this do you long for Chaucer bed time tales?
Then Abode Canterbury is the place for you. Situated in the heart of charming Canterbury in the middle of the High Street, you can't get more central than this.
Recently renovated and taken over by Abode Hotels, the 17th Century building has received a much needed update. Still you will find the lovely leather chaired lounges and open faced brick, however on top of that there is now a champagne bar, chic restaurant, and lots of lovely decor. This renovation was brought about by Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines & hotelier Andrew Brownsword.
Our normal double rooms were sumptuous with lovely lotions, delicious biscuits, and a bed so comfortable I had to be bribed by breakfast to climb out!
Breakfast was vast with many choices. We went for the eggs Benedict and full English breakfast. The tea and coffee are on a seemingly endless supply.
If you can get one of their deals, a night or two at Abode Canterbury is excellent value for money.
