The gardens are privately owned by Ian and Barbara Pollard, better known as 'The Naked Gardeners'. The gardens are open to the public 7 days of the week throughout the summer.
The gardens are excellently kept and range from the more formal gardens on the upper level to the wilder side on the lower level along the river. Quite often there are local works of art on display or occassionally local theatrical productions and from time to time it is featured on TV.
Don't go expecting to see Ian and Barbara in the buff, this only happens on Clothes Optional days and then you will also see many more naked people mingling with clothed visitors, depending on the weather.
Some parts tend to be quite steep between the upper and lower levels but many disabled people manage to get around the gardens.
