I took my bike to AW cycles recently as it needed to be fixed. I really could not diagnose the problem and after giving the bike a good clean up and fix up, it still remained somehow, not quite perfect, so I thought I would need professional help.
AW Cycles is based on Merton High Street between South Wimbledon and Colliers Wood, on what I imagine will be the first of the Mayor of London's cycle corridors later this year. It looks olde world from its outside appearance, but the expertise and service is second to none.
The moment I brought the bike in and explained the problem I had the guy's full attention. Within a minute we were on the street outside and as it only occurred when ridden the guy from the shop took the bike for a ride up the street and back. Then as he got off the cycle it was turned upside down and the back wheel was pulled off'here we are, as I thought' he said. 'This is broken and you will need a new one. Now the good news is I can fix it later today' he said. 'The bad news is that it will cost you £30'.
My bike was picked up two days later (I was busy, but nice that they we willing to hold onto it on their premises) and you know what I did with the £30I got back in the saddle. The following week, I saved myself £6 but not buying a travelcard and cycling to work. Bargain!
A W Cycles on Abbey Parade, Merton High Street is a great shop, I can thoroughly recommend it.
I've been to a number of cycle shop in London but this is by far the best! I spent most of an afternoon cycling around trying to get a simple component for my lights ,everywhere i went they tried to sell me a completely new plastic wrapped bracket at a criminal price, then I came across A W cycles and got exactly what i needed first time at an excellent price. Please save your self a lot time and money and go here first! Excellent service at a really great price! 10 out of 10
