I saw the ratings, I saw the number of reviews so I decided to give it a try. Menu was hanging outside the window and "appeared" to be reasonably priced with pasta dishes in the $12 to $16 range. Walked in and the hostess showed us the gluten free menu and it seemed decent in size.

We were seated and brought water very quickly. They asked what we wanted for drinks and did a fantastic job of describing several of the different chardonnay's for.my dinner companion.

After water, drinks and a sampler for the table the server explained that the menu was tapas style and that the costs listed were the small plate prices. That you would double or triple for a dinner sized portion. This was sticker shock but the food was very good and the pasta is made in house.

They have a cute bar areas and they seem to have some regulars in the crowd.

I thought the food was good but I am not sure I would go back becuae I am generally not a fan of tapas.

If you are, this is a very good selection.

A+ dining in Salem. I love a good tapas bar and 62 fits the bill. I would have liked a more expansive list of wines by the glass but the amazing food made up for it. We sat at the bar and our bartender was very friendly and even let us sample some wines

Bruscetta - Topped with shrimp and a tomato garlic sauce

Chickpea Fritters - Almost tasted like fried hummus with a spicy kick

Arancini - Delicious cheesey rice balls

Tagliatelle alla Bolognese - Love the smaller size portion, great for sharing. It was filled with veal, pork, and parmesan

Warm Toffee Pudding - Great unique dessert, if you like heath bars you'll love this

Great spot for a date night. But reservations would definitely help on weekends. There's a life and bar separate from the main dining room.

Ordered the braised pork belly with pickled spicy cabbage for appetizer. Pork was tender and the cabbage added a great crunch and palate cleanser.

Entrees consisted of half plate of garganelli, with handmade pasta, braised duck, dried cherries and kale, and the hanger steak, with grilled asparagus and grilled mushrooms. We also had a side dish of spicy broccoli rabe.

The rabe was on the healthier side, otherwise the pasta and steak were delicious. Portions are decent, and prices were on point. Our waitress was the bartender, and while it got really busy for her, she still checked in on us regularly.

Hope to come back next time we're in the neighborhood!

This place would have received five stars, and my recurring patronage, if it weren't so OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE.

Went here for my 20th birthday, and had almost half the menu tapas-style (really small plates, and when divided among three people almost becomes a tasting menu.

All of the food here was excellent. While I had many good dishes, the pork-bellies are what stuck to me. I had not had a pork belly so tender and so "juicy" in my life.

      Service was polite and quick.

      Warm toffee pudding was excellent.

Again, I would return was it not for the outrageous prices (considering what you get)

Came here for dinner this evening and really enjoyed myself. We arrived an hour early for our reservation but they were able to accommodate us even though they were super busy. After walking around Salem all afternoon getting scared by all sorts of creatures/murderers/zombies, this gave them some bonus points right off the bat.

We basically tried their entire small plate selection:

Fried Brussels Sprouts - these were my favorite. I'm kind of a brussels sprouts connoisseur .. and these ones were absolutely amazing. They were cooked perfectly with pancetta, capers, red wine agrodolce & ricotta salata. YUM.

Deep Fried Chickpea Fritters with Date Compote - I was really excited for these, and then pretty let down. When I think of a fritter I think of a round fried batter ball full of deliciousness and these just weren't that. The date compote was essentially a sweet jam that went ok with the fritters but it wasn't amazing. The overall flavor was good but the consistency and presentation could be improved.

Ricotta and Figs - This was another favorite. Served with aged balsamic vinegar over grilled ciabbata.. highly recommend.

Lamb Sausage - This was great. The sausage was grilled and looked more like a home-made burger than your typical sausage, the whipped feta and chickpeas went perfectly with the meat.

Braised Pork Belly - meh, wasn't that good. It was served over a bed of cabbage that was drenched in vinegar.

Overall ambiance and service was great. At first it took our waitress a little while to come over and greet us but she made up for it by taking one of our small plates off of the bill :)

We had a great dinner there last night. We started off with the new old fashioned--bourbon, cherry liqueur, soda and orange bitters. Not too sweet and a good start to the meal

For appetizers we had the scallops and the ricotta and figs. To start I will say I couldve eaten any of them. They all looked delicious. The scallops my wife had were perfectly cooked with nice accompaniment of cucumber and avocado (I think). My whipped ricotta with figs was so rich and satisfying but in a perfect size so I didn't feel full heading into the main.

For main's, she got the ravioli and I had the cod. Both were excellent. The ravioli is probably a better cold weather dish--total stick to your ribs rich goodness with the egg yolk and ricotta stuffing. But it was a little cold last night so it still worked. The cod was light and fresh with flavorful vegetables and beans alongside.

The waitress recommended the picket fence pinot noir which was a little fruit forward as a younger pinot but still had some complexity as it drank--its nice the glasses come in small carafes so you can take your time and let the wine get some air.

The desserts looked great but we were already stuffed and so have to take a raincheck for our next visit which wont be too far away.

The one (small) downside to this place is the parking--give yourself a few extra minutes to find a space in the crowded salem waterfront or head to the garage that is nearby and save the effort.

I am in love with this place. I've been twice now and both times had one of the best meals i've ever had.

Most recently, I went on NYE for the tasting dinner. I got a fantastic salad with warm roasted dates. The black truffle pasta was one of the best things I've tasted in my life. My fish (sea bass) was good, but the lemon sauce was a bit overpowering. I also got the warm toffee pudding for dessert. It was warm, gooey, perfectly sweet, and topped with fresh homemade whipped cream.

The wine list is extensive. wine is served in quartinos, 1/3 of a bottle, for $10-15. Mixed drinks are perfectly made. I got a apple cider manhattan last time I was there. It was the perfect winter drink. Hubby is also happy with the selection of beers on tap.

On tuesday & wednesday they have "neighborhood nights": 3 courses for $24. You can't beat it- no excuse not to try sixty2 out. The best part? you can wear jeans. This is a classy establishment that has a very non-elitist and comfortable atmosphere.

Boy, I wanted to love this place. But it's like...when you go out with a really hot chick...and you blow a ton of money on the date, and it just doesn't yield the return you were hoping for.

Analogy-aside, I dined at 62 tonight and found it to be chalk full of potential. I will start off by saying our server was phenomenal. The service in-general was very good. The insides, while a little cramped was chic and intimate without being too stuffy.

62 excels on apps, wines, and desserts. Where we fell a little flat was on entrees. The Aroncini to start was crispy and the tomato/basil it comes with was a lovely [and needed] addition. The wine we got was very nice, albeit about 4x the retail if I were to buy it myself - a bit excessive. I got the special entree [gnocchi with a spicy pork ragu] which fell flat on flavor and had a few pieces of inedible meat in it. For dessert - the ricotta/nutella-stuffed donuts were sinful, and one of the most decadent desserts I've had in a while.

All-in-all, 62 could benefit from a bit more economical wine list, more focus on their entrees, and some al fresco options [it seemed like they were the only restaurant NOT to have outdoor seating]. A bit of refining and this place could be a gem. Until then - it may not be worth the asking price.

Salem... Italian... I never expected food this good in Salem, MA. This is hands down the best pasta I have had outside of Italy. The menu is sectioned just like a menu in Italy with Appetizers (Primi), Pastas, Entrees (Secondi). We had 2 pasta dishes and 1 entree. The pasta portions were the perfect appetizer size, they do offer entree sizes if you want just pasta for your dinner. we had Pappardelle tossed with a ragu of wild boar and rosemary, and the Hen of the woods mushrooms, black truffle, parmigiano & soft-poached egg. The Latter was the most delectable pasta dish this side of the Atlantic. I mean how do you beat those ingredients, the balance of the dish was perfect.

For the entree we had Seared sea scallops with roasted jerusalem artichokes, wild mushrooms and black truffle. Again a perfect balance of ingredients which still allowed the scallops to be the star of the dish.

The decor was upscale and and quiet. Great place for a romantic dinner after a full day of witch trials. Seriously great food, put this on your to go list!

This place has a classy upbeat bar atmosphere. It didn't really feel like an italian restaurant, more like a modern american place. that's a compliment, not a jab. we were greeted by 2 friendly hostesses. it was packed so we were seated in the lounge area, which was different in a good way. it was like eating on the crouch in front of the TV. our waiter was friendly as well.

for an appetizer we got the caponata ($7). it is 4 slices of buttered and grilled ciabatta and a jar of chilled eggplant in a sauce. we also got the tortelli di arragosta (lobster filled, $14). it was good but small. there were only about 8-9 pieces. wouldn't fill a guy up, but it's usually small at all restaurants. bertucci's charges $19 for almost the same thing but it's much better here and isn't super salty. the grilled skirt steak ($26) was good. it came with slices of king oyster mushrooms, which are really good.

the food and environment was pleasant and the design was tasteful. they maintain the place well.

      i would recommend this place.
