5 reviews for 19 Numara Bos Cirrik
All Reviews
Like the Star Wars films/Gary Glitter's career/[insert personal fall from grace here], Bos Cirrik started strong, but finished weakly.
When we entered, we were seated and served quickly, though never rushed. The food - both veggie and meat - was universally good and the portions were generous. But then things proceeded to go a bit downhill: Trying to get any post-dinner attention from the staff was tricky. When we did finally manage to inquire about desserts, we were told flatly that there were none. Oh. Our baklava-deprived moods were then further dampened by the difficulty in getting the bill.
I'm in something of a quandary about Bos Cirrik. On one hand the food - which should always be the pivotal factor in any restaurant recommendation - is great. But the service is well below average.
P.S. I should add that this review is based on my second visit. The first time we booked a table for 10pm, but on showing up were informed the chef had already gone home. Bos Cirrik Hackney got to blow a second chance solely because I've heard consistently great things about the Stoke Newington branch.
After being reccomended this restaurant by a friend I was looking forward to trying Cirrik. However I will not be going back an would urge anyone else reading this not to bother.
The waiting staff managed to pour a glass of wine down my new top, and rather than, as I would have thought would have been natural, apologising they disregarded my complaint, and then tried to charge me for the wine, which they had unceremoniously poured down my front.
When I complained at the end of the meal, and refused to pay for the wine, they threatened to call the police.
It is a real shame that good cooking was spoilt by awful customer service, a disregard for common courtesy and plain rudeness.
If they had shown more concern at the time of the accident then I would never have made such a fuss.
I can only urge you not to bother.
I live across the street from Cirrik and took a friend there today for a takeaway kebab. I have really never been so disrespected in my life at a restaurant.
They didn't ask my friend or me what sauces we wanted on our kebabs, handing them to us in a bag already wrapped up. When we politely asked if we could get chili sauce on the side, a drama ensued which included the men cursing us, telling us to get out, and then claiming they already asked us about the sauce and that we didn't reply. Very very strange and abusive behavior here at Cirrik! I will clearly never come back again as these men are completely outrageous. I came once before with a boyfriend and the service was okay, maybe they have something against women?
Cirrik is a Turkish restaurant situated right beside Hackney Central Overground Station.
Some friends of mine had been here a few times and had been raving on about it and after having some take away from here once I decided to try it out. The atmosphere was laid back and loud as there was a birthday group sitting close by.
Unfortunately the waiter got our orders mixed up, but when we eventually got our food it was really good. I had the moussaka which was delectable.
The restaurant is quite big so it would be a good place to come with a group for a party.
This place really is amazing, if for no other reason than the huge amount of quality food you get. I know it is common in Turkish restaurants to get a lot of food, but I have never walked out of one feeling so content.
I have to say it is the best that I have had in Hackney. Unlike a lot of other Turkish restaurants, this one is a real dining experience rather that a 'take-away/eatery'.
After eating an abundance of complimentary bread, I was ready to take on the Turkish pizza. I went for the lamb option, which was huge and delicious. As the restaurant is licensed, we had a few rounds of Turkish beer. One very small positive point was the fridge temperature, the beer was incredibly cold which was really nice.
I suggest going to Cirrik if you want a classy Turkish experience. It is a little expensive but well worth it.
